Paris HS Student Council is involved with Battle of the Belt again this year! Did you know that  
  Six out of 10 vehicle occupants killed in 2013 Missouri traffic crashes were unbuckled. 
  Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for people 15 to 20 years old. 
  Three out of four teen vehicle occupants (13-19) killed in 2013 Missouri traffic crashes were not wearing a 
safety belt. 
Our average for the Oct 1 Seat Belt Check was 84%.  4% above the State Average for all drivers.  During this coming 
weeks, starting next week, there will be a trivia of the week on the STU CO Board in the main hall.  Also, take the 
pledge! If you pledge to wear your seatbelt and encourage others in your vehicle to wear their seat belt (whether you 
are driving or not) take the pledge! See Mr. Freitag or pick up a pledge card in the office.  
Seniors- Once you have been admitted to college and have made your decision, come see Mrs. Youse to 
get your name on the places you'll go banner!  
Show-Me Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society Chapter Scholarships. 
The Show-Me Chapter offers a $2000 scholarship for a high school senior, or undergraduate, planning to 
major in conservation or a natural resources-related field.  This is an essay contest.  Information can be 
found at http://www.moswcs.org/scholarship/.  Please encourage any eligible students to apply.  
Applications must be postmarked by December 1st (Monday after Thanksgiving).  
Conservation Foundation of Missouri Scholarship 
CFMO offers 5 - $1000 scholarships to high school seniors or undergraduates in different natural 
resources areas.  Preference will be given to those demonstrating financial need.  Applications must be 
submitted by December 31.  Information can be found at on the same website, 
at http://www.moswcs.org/scholarship/.    
Junior High: 
Just for JH - Trick-Or-Treat For Canned Goods 
The Paris Junior High Student Council will be collecting canned goods this Friday, October 31.  There is 
also a class competition between 7th and 8th grade.  The class to collect the most canned goods 
between October 28-November 3 will win a pizza party!! The canned goods will be donated to the Central 
Missouri Food Bank.  Please support the Junior High Student Council in making sure no one goes hungry!   
ALL STUDENTS: 
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!! 
The Junior High Student Council will be selling Krispy Kreme Doughnuts next Tuesday, November 4.  
Doughnuts can be purchase before school from 7:15 a.m. - 7:59 a.m. and during the Junior High 
basketball game that evening.  Doughnuts can also be pre-ordered by contacting Mrs. Wisner.  Glazed 
doughnuts will be only $7; filled doughnuts are also available for only $8!  Proceeds will help pay for the 
Student Council State Convention and Summer Workshop!  
FCA will be collecting items for Operation Christmas Child. Information is posted outside Mrs. Ensor's 
room and on the FCA bulletin board at the top of the ramp outside the teacher workroom.  If you would 
like to help send gifts to children around the world, check the list on the bulletin board for items that will 
work: specific types of toys, non-liquid soaps, t-shirts and socks, etc. The items are sent to children ages 
2-14. Bring your items to Mrs Ensor's room now through Wednesday, November 5. FCA will pack the 
boxes, add items to complete them, and provide the shipping costs. Operation Christmas Child will add a 
copy of Bible passages in each child's language.   
FCA members--we need you to help with junior high concession stands. Sign-up sheets are posted 
outside Mrs. Ensor's door. Please check your calendar and sign up to work. Take care of your classwork. 
You must be academically eligible to work the stand.
