EVERY YEAR, ANTI-ABORTION FANATICS DOMINATE THE ANNIVERSARY OF ROE V. WADE...
THIS JANUARY, WE ARE FIGHTING BACK!
Abortion On Demand and Without Apology!
Across the country, women's right to abortion is in a state of
emergency and the future of women hangs in the balance. Having
and raising a child can be a wonderful thing. But, forcing women to
have children against their will is a form of enslavement.
Hundreds of anti-abortion restrictions have been enacted. Dozens of
clinics have been forced to close. Women who self-abortor even
miscarryare being sent to prison. Terror, harassment and even
murder against doctors and staff continues. Politicians talk openly of
pregnancy from rape as a gift from god, stoking thousands of years
of tradition and shame.
The war on women is real. It is not figurative, it is not an election
ploy, it is not a talking point and it is not going away on its own. This
assault has built for decades, regardless of whether Republicans or
Democrats controlled the levers of power. Despite advances for
some women in some spheres, deadly violence, enslaving
legislation, theocratic social movements, and hate-filled revenge
against women are rapidly rising. The fight over reproductive
freedom is a front line of this war.
All this is building up to an even more dangerous show-down as
extreme anti-abortion legislation works its way up to an increasingly
hostile Supreme Court.
The hour is late. Yet this directioncanbe defeated ifwe cast
off illusions and prepare for struggle. No major advance for
womenor for the oppressed generallyhas been won without
people stepping outside of acceptable bounds, daring to change
minds, and putting themselves on the line. People of conscience
must go beyond cursing at their TVs or vesting their hopes in the
courts and politicians. We must take the responsibility to resist.
This January 22nd, the anniversary of the legalization of abortion, join in
making a leap in the level of resistance to this war. Join in opposing the
March for Life in DC and San Francisco, refusing any longer to let them
claim the high moral ground or go unopposed in the broad stage of
society and calling out to millions to join in this fight.

2011-2013
Two hundred and three
abortion restrictions were
passed on the state level; thats
more than in the entire preceding
decade.
Clinics in Michigan, Florida,
Wisconsin and Texas were
attacked with explosives in
2011-2012.
2013
22 states passed 70
restrictions on abortion.
The U.S. House of
Representatives approved a 20week ban on abortion.
An abortion clinic inIndiana was
vandalized with anaxe.
A man attempted twice to burn
down a Planned Parenthood in
Missouri.
Another man was convicted of
planning to assassinate an
abortion doctor in Wisconsin.
2014
A clinic in Montana was so
viciously vandalized that it has
been closed indefinitely.
West Virginia and Mississippi
passed 20 week bans against
abortion.

to

Forcing

RIGHT NOW...
Women across the country who cannot access safe abortions are attempting
to self-abort using dangerous methods. Many more are forced to give birth to
unwanted children and are trapped in abusive relationships, driven (deeper)
into poverty, or are separated at birth from a baby they cant care for. This is
the future for all women if these attacks are not resisted and defeated!
The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that buffer zone laws
protecting abortion clinics in Massachusetts are
unconstitutional. Those laws were originally enacted in the wake
of the murder of 2 female clinic workers in 1994. This striking
down of protective measures for women and clinic staff calls into
question similar buffer zone laws across the U.S.
The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Hobby Lobby. Employers
can deny coverage of birth control in their employees health
insurance plans if it goes against employers religious beliefs.
This has opened the door to possibilities of unfettered bigotry being
applied in the name of freedom of religion.
The last clinic in Mississippi narrowly escaped closure, due to
bogus hospital privileges law being passed in many states. Antiabortion fanatics regularly tell the fearless MS clinic escorts and
women at the clinic doors to kill themselves.
At hundreds of clinics all across the country, anti-abortion
fanatics accuse Black and Latina women of carrying out genocide
against their race, they call women murderers, and spread lies
about the dangers of abortion.
Legislation passed in Texas last year has been devastating. The
number of abortion clinics in the state of Texas has been
reduced to about 20% of what it was before June 2013. The
abortion pill is now extremely difficult to get, and abortion is
banned at 20 weeks. Also passed but recently blocked by a judge,
was a medically unnecessary law that could still leave Texas with 6
or 7 abortion clinics. Texas has a population of 26 million people.
AND WHAT DO THE DEMOCRATS SAY?!
Oklahoma and Louisiana passed
the hospital admitting privileges
law that will shut down half their
clinics (leaving 2-3 in each state).
Hillary Clinton: I for one, respect those who believe that there are no
circumstances under which any abortions should ever be available.
Alabama House of
Representatives passed a ban on
abortion at six weeks, with no
exception for rape or incest! This
comes on top of: parental
consent, state-mandated
"counseling" and ultrasounds,
mandatory 48-hour waiting
periods, and limited access to
public funds for reproductive
healthcare. 19 percent of women
in Alabama are living below the
poverty line.
...and Obama has repeatedly said he supports restrictions on abortion and respects
the views of and seeks common ground with those who will not be satisfied until all
abortions are illegal.
Wendy Davis: I would have and could have voted to allow [a ban on
abortions at 20 weeks] to go through, if I felt like we had tightly defined the
ability for a woman and a doctor to be making this decision together...
THIS IS WRONG. There can be no common ground with those
who are fighting for female enslavement. The fight over abortion has never
been about babies, it has always been about control over women.
For far too long, pro-choice people have hoped that the Democrats or the
courts would somehow stop this fascist assault on women. Too many people
have remained passive, or funneled all their energies into supporting politicians
who openly seek common ground with forces who are fighting for female
enslavement. Unacceptable! Common ground has really meant losing
ground to this whole onslaught. As a result, for decades we have watched as yesterday's outrage became today's
compromise position and tomorrow's limit of what can be imagined.
47K
women around the world
die every year from
illegal, unsafe abortions
5K
women in the U.S. are
estimated to have died every
year from illegal, unsafe
abortions before Roe v.
Wade legalized abortions
42
states prohibit abortion
at some point in the
pregnancy
87%
of all counties in the U.S.
have no abortion provider
states have only one

abortion providers

In reality, the future is up to us! This whole direction must be uncompromisingly resisted and defeated! This
requires changing the terms by telling the truth: Fetuses are NOT babies. Abortion is NOT murder. Women are NOT
incubators. Women need: Abortion On Demand and Without Apology! And it requires going out into the streets and waging
massive, public, uncompromising, political resistance. We must rely on ourselves and mobilize the
outrage of others to STOP THIS WAR ON WOMEN.
