Industrial Visit to Maithon dam

This was the first industrial visit arranged by the department of

Mechanical Engg. On April 6,2013. The location was Hydel
power plant, at Maithon, Dhanbad.
As per scheduled we arrived at our ME and MME department at
9am. Then we boarded the bus with MOHAMMAD SIKANDAR AZAM
Sir and MADAN LAL CHANDRAVANSHI Sir. The journey was a real
delight. Away from the tension and worries of all exam and
practical we landed ourselves to the world of full fun and
entertainment. We shared jokes ,played Antrakshi and laughter
was endless thought the journey .finally after two hours we
reached the administrating building of Maithon hydel project.
Our sir went to collect clearance letter which took about 2 hr,
that was a bit boring .But we utilised this time to refresh
ourselves with ice cream treat. Though it was a sunny day ,our
enthusiasm and zeal was at its fullest . We were all set to
explore more and more.Finally we got the clearance letter and
we set our journey to Maithon Hydel power plant .
Maithon Hydel Power Station is located on the river Barakar
about 12.9 km above its confluence with the Damodar near the
border of Dhanbad and Burdwan districts of the states of
Jharkhand and West Bengal respectively. The unique feature of
this Hydel Power Station is that it is located underground in the
left bank of the river and is the first of its kind in India. The
Power Station has a total generating capacity of 60 MW with 3
units of 20 MW each.

Principles of Hydroelectricity
The water flowing in the river possesses two type of energy:
(1)the kinetic energy due to flow of water and
(2)potential energy due to the height of water.
In hydroelectric power and potential energy of water is utilized to generate
electricity.The hydroelectric power plant, also called as dam or
hydro power plant, is used for generation of electricity
from water on large scale basis. The dam is built across the
large river that has sufficient quantity of water throughout the
river. In certain cases where the river is very large, more than
one dam can built across the river at different locations.

Hydroelectricity generation
After having a detailed tour of the working unit of Hydel plant,
we decided to refresh ourselves near the Maithon dam. So we
stopped at near the Barakar river, at the beech .Needless to
mention we photographed a lot, played near the river and it
was very awesome spending time there. The water of the river
appeared green and compelled all of us to praise the nature.It
was really a delight to visit such a exotic spot.Then clock struck
3 pm and now it was our time to say goodbye to Maithon and
its awesome scenery. On return trip we energetically involved
ourselves in singing ,joking and all such fun activites.At about
5:30 we were back to our college.
This industrial visit could not be possible without effort of our
respected Dr. KKS sir and faculty member of our department.So
we are highly thankful to them and request them for next such
visit in nearby future.

Sir/mam, I am a fresher candidate. Salary is not first priority for me. This is a big platform to
start my career and I also want to improve my knowledge and skill and gain experience. I am not
expecting any particular salary. I expect to get a reasonable salary according to my ability and
your company's norms, which will fulfill my economical needs.
Five years from now I would like to see myself as a better person both personally and
professionally, in a respectable and reputed position earned through my hard work and skills in a
reputed company like yours. I would like to see myself as a more skilled and technologically well
developed employee in a reputed company like yours.
I think creativity is related to your thought and idea, its always come out in challenging time,
situation, it is a art of work pattern, and how to deal with particular problem and situation, and
nobody show their ability and creativity without any situation, which he /she has to face and
overcome from it.
Creativity is to create innovative idea and to modify old things to new one. I can't remember any
particular example right now but my creativity lies in every work what I do daily. Always try to
implement something new that makes hard work into smartwork.
Sir creativity means to make innovative from basic things.
My creativity is I learn from my mistakes and try to make failure in success.
Challenges are the only cause which are there to accelerate our potential and efficiency. For me life
itself is a challenge, they are like regular unit tests which has to be faced by everyone. But the one
who faces it with courage and true dedication is the one who overcomes it. And eventually he or
she is the ultimate winner.
Sir, My journey of life is full of challenge. I have faced many problem and had done many mistake
in my personal and professional life, but in every problem, I had challenged myself to solve that,
and after solving that I had always learned from my mistake, Which increases my experience
always not to do such mistake again and it also keeps me ready to face another challenge.
Sir every day is a challenge. The challenge comes to us is only because we are capable of
resolving that in the right way and in positive attitude.
Challenges are challenges. They cannot be categorized into tough tougher or toughest. So yes I
have faced many challenges in my life. Which I have definitely overcome due to positive attitude.
Proof is I am sitting here right in front of you :).
I haven't faced anything tough upto now, everything seems to easier when you start to work on it,
it is tough until you have started it.
Upto now I had not taken any toughest decision. Because I had considered everything as a part of
life. I didn't felt that it is the toughest. Because I believe in that emotions won't provide solutions
to problems.
I don't know what's the meaning of tough decision.
I believe that everything is tough if you Lazy about it.
And,
Everything is easy if you are Crazy about it.
& I seriously don't know how much crazy I am.
Though I have made many decisions in my life but I can't categorize them in tough or tougher. I
believe in Ratan Tata's line " I don't believe in making right decisions, I take decisions and make
them right. ".

Answers always must be given in a positive way especially in interviews. There is no problem in
listing our strengths as it shows our positive attitude, like, I am a good listener, I have patience,
Self confidence etc.
But when explaining our weak points, it should be listed in such a way that it should show our
positive attitude indirectly, like, I usually want the work to be done properly so in such case it can
be a sort of burden to others if I would ask them to do it perfectly.
For me my work is more important, I don't bother to whom I'm reporting to, whether he/she is
younger or older than me. To me everybody are the employees so it will not effect my work.
Age has nothing to do with the capabilities as long as the person has all the caliber to hold the
position, I would feel comfortable to report a person who is younger to me. for me a person is
recognised by his or her work and not by age.
We are not reporting to 'elder or older ' we report to the post so we should not fell bad. If any one
has ability, talent, sincerity they get post or designation.

The agenda behind this question is to understand if you are a team player or a solo
performer. It might be risky to choose any one of them as the role for which they are
considering you might need you to be a team player but the career progression
which they might consider for you down a years time may need you to handle a
more autonomous position. It is better to answer this question by saying that "I
dont have any such preference. I can comfortably handle both the situations, as the
need arises." Now back it up with examples where you successfully worked in a team
and where you performed an autonomous role.
As of now I did not remember any highly criticism on my work, however I might have done small
mistakes but mistakes make us perfect, I like getting feedback's and take it positively, always try
to improve and not to repeat a mistake again.
