Arrangementofrupturediscoranyothersuitablesafety
reliefdeviceshallbeincorporatedinthesamplingbomb.

LPGsamplesshallbecollectedonlyinopen/ventilated
areasandthepersontakingthesampleshallstandonthe
windwardside.
Thesamplershallwearprotectivegoggles,handgloves,
shoesetc.whiletakingsamples.
Samples,aftercollection,shallbeproperlylabeledand
keptatdesignatedplace.

DRAINING
Storagevesselshouldbedrainedregularlyforitswater
content,sediments,causticcontentsetc.Draining
operationshouldbecarriedoutunderthesupervisionof
anauthorisedperson.
FordrainingofwaterfromLPGvessels,following
procedureshallbefollowed:
Thevalvenearertothevesselshallbeopenedfirstand
closed.Then,drainingshallbecarriedoutbygradually
openingthevalvefartherfromthevessel.Theoperation
shallberepeatedtillLPGreleasestarts.

Itshallbeensuredthatthedrainoutletisatasafedistance
fromthevesselsothataccidentalignitionofanyescaping
vapour wouldnotexposethevesseltoflameimpingement.
Itisimportantnottoattemptremovaloftheentire
quantityofwaterasconsiderableliquidLPGmayescapein
theprocess.AtthefirstsignofappearanceofLPG,the
operationshallbestopped.EscapeofLPGmayleadto
formationoficeblockatthevalveseat,preventingclosure
ofvalve.Thiswillresultinescapeofuncontrolledvapour to
theatmospherecausingaveryserioushazard.

FIREONSTORAGEVESSEL:
Ifapressurevesselisexposedtoradiantheatfromexternal
fire,itshouldbekeptcoolbywaterspraystoprevent
excessivepressureriseinthevessel.Coolingthevesselwith
waterspraysreducestheheatinputtothevesseland
therebyreducesthepressure,thus,reducingtherateof
dischargefromthereliefvalves.
IffireentersLPGstoragearea,concentrateavailablecooling
wateronLPGvessels,mostaffected.
DonottrytoemptyLPGvesselsexposedtofire.They
becomemorevulnerabletooverheatingastheirliquid
contentdecreases.
