110@ CANDYFLOSS DESIGNS
The original design for this pattern was an edging worked
in pink variegated thread with a lot of picots giving the
impression of candyfloss and the name stuck. Without the
large picots this design van look quite heavy.
Candyfloss edging

With lots of picots (top) the design has a light, fluffy
appearance, while without the picots (below) it
appears much heavier
All plain rings (A) ~ (6ds, p) x3, 6ds
All rings with picots (B) - 6ds, p, (2ds, P 0.Sem) x 5, 2ds, p, 6ds
All chains ~ Sds except between picots where there are 4ds.

27© LOVE-IN-THE-MIST
This pretty mat design interprets the blue flowers of
lowe-in-the-mist, complete with heart motifs and a simple
dewdrop edging tinged with pink as if by the rising sun.
Romantic! The flower and heart motifs are worked as
separate medallions that are joined together with the
next row of tating.

Love-in-the-mist mat
This mat measures 11%in (29em)
when worked in no. 20 cotton.
Use a shuttle of white thread with a
blue ball.

Yan (Smm)© CORNFLOWER
These designs contain the flowers that used to be found ina
field of corn in the UK. The cow parsley, clovers and daisies
are surrounded by the golden heads of corn.
Cornflower mat

‘The finished mat measures 12in
(30cm) when worked in no. 20 cotton.Row 1: Centre motif
Use 2 shuttles with white thread on both.
Tip
Some tatters may find it useful
to mark their shuttles A and B.
Shuttle B, which is used as the bal
‘thread for the chains, is used to
work the rings of the inner circle,
‘thus enabling the finished work
to lie flat.
In this central motif, all rings are the
same: [3ds,p] x 3, 3ds, with chains of
ds between each,
Following the chart, work ring 1, rw.
Chain, rw.
Ring 2, rw.
Chain, do not rw.
Ring 3, do not rw.
Chain, rw.
Repeat this pattern, joining all inner
and all outer rings.
