The Canon imagePASSS1, featuring EFIs Fiery System 7
software, offers a powerful foundation for light
production environments, along with exceptional
flexibility to expand. Workflow control, centralized and
de-centralized print workflow, and a variety of powerful
utilities are all standard. Additional optional applications
offer finer control over productivity and print quality, and
advanced imposition capabilities.
Functionality for centralized and
distributed print environments
The Canon imagePASSS1 supports operator centric and
user driven workflows and extends the standard
functionality through optional modules to enable a
tailored approach to meet customer requirements.
The Canon imagePASSS1 features the multi-awardwinning EFI Command WorkStation, Windows Edition
for maximum control of digital print jobs. This software
supports multiple operators simultaneously through a
unified main workspace, linear workflows, and
WYSIWYG interfaces that streamline operations and
accommodate varying levels of expertise. It runs on a
desktop or locally at the Fiery. The Macintosh Edition
gives Mac OS users access to a variety of Command
WorkStation functions. Through the print-to command,
EFI Driver gives access to all Fiery functionality.
A number of features automate workflows: Hot Folders
and Virtual Printers are the options to automate repetitive
tasks and for faster, error-free printing; and EFI Impose
Fiery Edition, a server-based WYSIWYG imposition application, for fast accurate processing of the most complex
booklet, N-up and Cut and Stack routines.
WYSIWYG Imposition Solution
The EFI Impose Fiery Edition option is ideal for large or
complex documents. EFI Impose Fiery Edition operators
can view thumbnails and full-screen previews, edit nonnative files, add or delete pages, and preflight to check for
errors before RIPping. Imposed jobs can be archived as
PDF files to either the disk or server for future printing.
Shorten the proofing cycle by sending remote customers
the imposed PDF for approval. Print jobs imposed with
EFI Impose on engines that are not equipped with in-RIP
imposition capability. Predefined imposition templates
speed imposition, and an unlimited number of custom
templates can be created and saved. EFI Impose is based
on the server; it offers greater control during later stages
of document production.
Security for Networked Environments
Fiery System 7 features several advanced prevention and
data protection methods:
IP Filtering, to restrict end user access in order to control
print costs, segregate budget center expenses, or limit
printing activity to authorized users.
Port Blocking to deselect any number of ports.
Secure Erase removes traces of job data from the
imagePASS-S1 hard disk drive.
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Support
LDAP support, to query and retrieve information through
LDAP servers.
Local and Remote Scanning
With EFI Fiery Scan, initiate remote scans from Mac OS
and Windows stations and follow the same user interface
with Fiery Scan. This dedicated application can initiate
new scans, access files stored in a mailbox, and send files
to others.
