Where Did Halloween Come From

Halloween originated from pagan traditions and was not a Christian holiday. It began as a Celtic festival called Samhain where the Druids honored the lord of the dead. The traditions of lighting bonfires and believing ghosts were more likely to wander on that night stem from pre-Christian Druid practices. While some aspects were later incorporated into the Roman festival of Pomona, Halloween long predated Christianity and was not a holiday celebrated by early Christians.

Where Did Halloween Come From?

Do you know that Halloween was introduced into the professing Christian world
centuries after the death of the Apostles, yet it was celebrated by the pagans
centuries before the New Testament Church was founded!

How did Halloween come to America? Here is the intriguing answer from history:
“The American celebration rests upon Scottish and Irish folk customs WHICH
CAN BE TRACED IN DIRECT LINE FROM PRE-CHRISTIAN TIMES” — from
paganism! “Although Halloween has become a night of rollicking fun,
superstitious spells, and eerie games which people take only half seriously, its
beginnings were quite otherwise. The earliest Halloween celebrations were held”
— not by the inspired early Church, but — “by the Druids in honor of Samhain,
Lord of the Dead, whose festival fell on November 1.” (From Halloween Through
Twenty Centuries, by Ralph Linton, p. 4.)

Far from being Christian, this festival is an old pagan holiday, masquerading as
though it was one of the customs of the Church. And yet professing Christians
allow their children to get into the spirit of this pagan custom!
The Encyclopedia Americana states about Halloween that it “is clearly a relic of
pagan times.

Now notice what the authoritative Encyclopedia Britannica says about Halloween:
“It long antedates Christianity. The two chief characteristics of ancient Halloween
were the lighting of bonfires and the belief that this is the one night in the year
during which ghosts and witches are most likely to wander about. History shows
that the main celebrations of Halloween were purely Druidical” — from the pagan
Druids of Northwest Europe — “and this is further proved by the fact that in parts
of Ireland October 31 is still known as OIDHCH SHAMHNA, ‘Vigil of Saman.’ “
Saman or Samhain was the pagan lord of the dead among the Druids.

So Halloween was celebrated among the pagans long before Jesus was born
in Bethlehem. This pagan holiday, however, was not celebrated alone among the
Druids. It was also a Roman festival! The Britannica continues: “On the Druidic
ceremonies were grafted some of the characteristics of the Roman festival in
honour of Pomona held about November 1, in which nuts and apples,
representing the winter store of fruits, played an important part.”
Notice the widespread pagan custom to celebrate this season of the year.

REDEEMING SATAN'S BLACK MAGICK CELEBRATION?

Cutting Edge Ministries has been exposing the

Satanic evil of Halloween for so many years, we
thought every Christian ministry by now
understood that Christians had no business
participating in such an evil, Satanic "Feast of
the Dead" celebration. However, Focus on the
Family has just issued a shocking new book
entitled, "Redeeming Halloween: Celebrating
Without Selling Out". Just the title raised my
hackles, but once I began to read this book, I
was positively livid. In all my years of
researching the occult, and Bible prophecy, and
the bold plan to produce Antichrist, I have
never, ever read such a treatise designed to
deceive individual Christians who comprise the
precious Body of Jesus Christ, trying to
convince them they can participate in a Satanic
celebration in which Black Magick Witchcraft --
the religion of Antichrist -- is controlling.

This book represents the worst attempt to

encourage Christians to accept, and to participate in, the following abominations:

1. The Roman Catholic

Church -- Throughout
this book, actions by
Popes and the Catholic
Church are simply
referred to as "church".
The major premise of
this book, and of the
Focus On The Family
radio interview tape, is
that Halloween was a
"Christian Church"
holiday that needs now
to be "redeemed" by
today's genuine Christian. What you are never told is that the "Christian"
fountainhead of Halloween in this book is Roman Catholicism.
Through this deceitful method, the reader is encouraged to place faith in the
actions taken by unregenerate Popes and the terribly wicked Roman Catholic
Church. Once a Christian begins to participate in Halloween, they will discover a
common bond with practicing Catholics -- and pagans and Satan worshippers.
(NOTE: We have dealt with the issue of the paganism of Roman Catholicism,
showing that the Pope has been selected to fill the role of the False Prophet once
Antichrist is on the world scene. Read the articles contained within our section,
"What Saith Rome?")

2. Ecumenism -- The world is rapidly moving toward the establishment of a global

church, whose doctrines are so broad that people all over the world can
participate. Narrow, exclusive-minded Christians have no place in this new
church. This book encourages Christians to abandon Biblical principle so they
can participate in this most wicked of holidays.

3. Black Magick Witchcraft -- Daniel 8:23-25 describes the religion of Antichrist,

and it is Black Magick Witchcraft. Halloween is the ultimate celebration of Black
Magick Witchcraft. Therefore, as global events show us how rapidly the world is
getting to the actual appearance of Antichrist, Dr. Dobson suddenly pops up to
encourage Christians to participate in Black Magick Halloween. Thus, when
Antichrist really steps on the world scene, people who consider themselves to be
Christian will be pre-disposed to accept the Man of Perdition because they have
already accepted his High Holy Sabbat (Halloween).

BACK TO THE FOOT OF THE CROSS?

"Redeeming Halloween: Celebrating Without Selling Out", by Kim Wier & Pam
McCune, A Focus On The Family book, published by Tyndale House Publishers,
Wheaton, Illinois, 2004, ISBN: 1-58997-155-8

The foundational premise of this book is simple: "Far from divisive, what we
discovered was a place where all Christians -- of any denomination -- can find
agreement. For you see, the story of Halloween begins at the foot of the cross."
[Page 9]

How is this possible? How can a celebration of the Babylonian Satanic "Feast of
the Dead" be traced to the foot of Jesus' precious cross? Further, as we have
revealed in an archived article on Halloween (NEWS1796), this night is the most
important of the year to the global Illuminati, which practices the most powerful
of all Black Magick Witchcraft! This night to all dark Satanists calls for human
sacrifice. Read more at: http://cuttingedge.org/news/n1969.cfm

AS IT URGES CHRISTIANS TO "REDEEM HALLOWEEN"! Part 2 of 3-
COMMITTING THE "SIN OF AARON" - Even though Focus On The Family is
encouraging Christian families to "Redeem Halloween", we wonder why
Christians should even be interested in celebrating a Satanic Black Magick
"Festival of the Dead". Two Scriptures come to mind immediately:

"But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love
death." [Prov 8:36]
"He (God) is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do
greatly err." [Mark 12:27]

publishing a book entitled, "Finding God In Lord of the Rings", Dr. Dobson
continues his free-fall into the Abyss by telling his followers they can participate
in Halloween, because it was a "Christian" holiday whose roots can be traced to
the "foot of the cross"! What advice does the Bible have for Dr. Dobson?
