OF LIFE LATELY, WHEREABOUTS AND
WHATNOTS
Day 1: SUMMER VIBES
Personally, I have pretty mixed feelings about our immersion. It's not that I feel
scared or anything.
This so-called immersion is actually an advantage to us five since we're the first
group to have this pre-internship as they say. First day of duty went pretty well I
guess?
It's kind of hard on the first day since I didn't know anyone well except for my group
mates. Were stuck in the lab for 8 hours without phones or gadgets which in some
ways bad but there are more good things to it. I was assigned to CM/Para section for
a week and in every section comes with an instructor. Mine was Ma'am Sheila whom
I thought was a tough and strict one but turns out to be a smart and humorous
person. All I can is she's very kind for her looks.
It was my first time to view abnormal specimens under the microscope plus a
bonus, we kind of isolated a parasite which is pretty awesome
I had the opportunity to read results which again is awesome since we didn't had
the opportunity to do this at school.
I wasn't expecting a lot but for a boring day it turned out to be fun.
Day 2: UPDATING MY LIFE
Pretty much life has been mixed up lately. Sleeping patterns changed, so yeah Im
exhausted for the 2nd day. Nothing much happened during the day. Same old
routine, different instructor with their different patterns of collection. Maam Jonievel
was my mentor this time. Shes awesome and has a great sense of humour.
Day 3: FIRST TIME JITTERS
I was assigned to the phlebotomy section this time. As expected, I extracted blood
from patients. I was actually nervous in doing so because it's my first time again in
months. Good thing is that I pulled it off.
I was taught the proper technique, had a chat with some instructors, and had the
chance to tour the hospital and that's about it. BTW, Ma'am GieGie was the nicest
so far. She reminds me of my tita actually. If only I can hug her hahah
Day 4: SO FAR, SO GOOD
They were not joking when they said they were giving a quiz. It was hard but it went
well. Scored a 42 over a 59 which I guess is good. Maam Jira was supposed to be
my mentor but was sick so she was replaced by Maam Irish. Maam Irish is a fresh
grad and I think shes cool. I didnt stayed at my section for a long time so I didnt
had a time to ask her about her medtech life.
Spontaneous day.
Day 5: TGIF
TGIF man, hoorah! Only the three of us (Cindy, Renzy and me) were there. The two
were sent to Bayombong for a bloodletting activity. I was still assigned to CM/Para
but I rarely go there. I thought my mentor was a nurse because she looked like one
but turns out one of the smartest medtech in the lab.
The rest of the day went well. Sir Olpindo asked a bunch of questions which we
didnt even know the answers. How embarrassing! But we had the opportunity to
witness their Flag retreat.
