COP 1638
Technical specification
A 16 kW hydraulic rock drill for fast tunnelling and drifting in the
hole range 33 - 76 mm. High penetration rate and excellent drill
steel life.
Features
The COP 1638 is developed from COP 1838ME with its wellknown COP 1800 technique. In order to give best performance
at 16 kW impact power the interior parts are new designed. COP
1638 drills significantly faster and provides a significantly better
drill steel life compared to COP 1238ME or similar rock drills.
The COP 1638 is the optimal choise for upgrading old drill
rigs with COP 1238ME/DCS 12, COP 1432/DCS 14 or similar
competitor rock drills, to provide higher productivity and better
drilling economy.
Impact piston design matches the size of the drill steel. This
feature gives minimum drill steel stress.
Very easy to adapt the rock drill to different rock or bit conditions.
The well-known Atlas Copco double-dampening system provides good bit-rock contact giving high penetration rates, and
is gentle to the drill steel, absorbs harmful recoil energy and
tightens drill steel thread joints.
Powerful, stepless variable and reversible rotation motor gives
high torque and enables great rotation speed flexibility.
Separate lubrication of fronthead and driver together with
pressurized and lubricated mating surfaces and sidebolts for the
best protection against wear and corrosion.
In especially corrosive environment, a front head entirely made
of corrosion resistent material (AW-version) is available for
extra long service life. (See also printed matter 9851 2334 01)
External sealed off water flushing for pressures up to 25 bar
ensures efficient removal of cuttings and better bit life.
Low profile permits drilling close to walls with only 2 degrees
look-out angle.
