evening worship service. Ellas baptism sponsors are Michael & Leanne Ruley.
Flowers on the altar this weekend are sponsored by Dick & Barb Adams as they celebrate
their 52nd anniversary; and by Del & Kristi Johnson in celebration of Kylies 4th birthday and
Dels birthday. An additional arrangement is sponsored by Jerrys girls (Vicki & Sheri) as
they celebrate Jerry Sebades 90th birthday on July 19.
Northeast Nebraska welcomed a number of cute babies in July, 1925. Three of them are
long time members of St. Johns. Jerry Sebade, who now lives at the Vets Home, and
Betty Low celebrate their 90th birthdays today, July 19th. Waine Kruse, now living at
Heritage of Bel Air, will be 90 on July 21st. We wish all three Gods blessings.
Everyone is invited to Fellowship Hour for coffee and rolls between
services each Sunday in the Fellowship Hall.

With Everest being
our theme for VBS, we
are asking to borrow
anything that would be
considered climbing
equipment. This could
be ropes, backpacks,
pup tents, camping
utensils, etc. There are
some very specific items needed, too.
PLEASE VISIT the Everest VBS display table
in the back of the sanctuary. Take a look at
the sheet with items that can be loaned or
donated. If you wish to lend or donate an
item(s), take the sheet, register it on the
master list, and bring the item(s) to the
church office. Be sure to attach the item
sheet to the donation or borrowed item.
VBS FOOD DONATION ITEM SHEETS
ARE HERE!
This year, snacks are part of the VBS
program so we are in no need of bars or
cookies. We apologize if this disappoints
you. Instead, the kids will get to make
their own treats! We will need
ingredients for Trail Mix, Rock Ramblers
Parfait, A Heart-y Snack, Summit Sponge
Cake, and Pizza Peaks. You will find
snack ingredient sheets on the Everest
Display Table.

FINAL
TOTAL
The generosity from the members of our
congregation and the surrounding
communities was amazing! We were so
excited when we saw that final total of what
we were able to give to Bright Horizons and
fulfilling our churchs mission:
Loving God . . . Loving People . . .
Reaching Out!
We appreciated your help from those that
donated items and any help we received in
organizing and pricing. $2,600 was raised
for Bright Horizons. Thank you so much
for all your support!

LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF SCHOOL
KITS
Why school supplies? To the children who
receive School Kits, these supplies mean
the difference between getting an
education or not. Public school is usually
free, but in the places where LWR works,
even a few required supplies, like pens and
paper, may be more than many families
can afford.
And when parents can only afford to send one
of their children to school, girls rarely get
priorityyet the education level of mothers
has the biggest impact on development.
School Kits are the Lutheran World Relief
project for July and August. One school kit
should include:
 4 70-sheet notebooks (wide or
college ruled). No loose leaf paper.
1 ruler with inches and centimeters.
 1 pencil sharpener
 1 blunt end safety scissors
 5 unsharpened #2 pencils with
erasers (secure together with a rubber
band)
5 black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel
ink) secured with a rubber band.
 1 box 16-24 crayons
 1 2 eraser
School bags have already been purchased.
Donated items may be placed in the washtub in
the west hall. Thank you for helping MAKE A
DIFFERENCE!
Join us Sunday, August 9, @ 5:30 pm
for a bite to eat and a chance to learn about
Stephen Ministries.
Please RSVP to
Nancy Jacobs @ 402-841-1770 or
St. Johns Office @ 402-371-1985
Equipment and
food donations have
come in strong.
THANK YOU!
We still need 21 lbs.
of hamburger and
ingredients for
Mountaintop Treats.
Jolene will start
setting up backdrops
and posters on July
22nd. She could
certainly use tall (and
not so tall, even vertically challenged)
people and ladders to help tape. There
will be an ice tunnel to construct in the
downstairs hallway. She has all the
materials and just needs helpers! She
will be at church in the evenings to set
up. Call her at 402-992-1328 to lether
know if you can help. Training for crew
leaders is set for July 30th at 6:30 PM in
the Community Room. If crew leaders
cannot attend, a training DVD is also
available.
Thank you so much for getting me to Watertown, NY! At $2 a mile, I still have a
long way to go to get to the St. Swithuns Boarding School for Girls in Winchester,
UK. If you want to help get me to England, you can put your contribution in the
offering plate. Make checks payable to St. Johns and put for Aline in the memo
line. Keep checking the bulletin to see how far Ive travelled. ~Aline Skogstoe
