PRESS RELEASE

MARCH 6, 2006

Logan 1.5 dCi diesel sets a benchmark

economical to buy and run
Logan is now available with a state-of-the-art 1.5 dCi second-generation diesel engine
with direct common-rail fuel injection a unit delivering high performance combined with
high fuel efficiency. With a combined-cycle fuel consumption of only 4.7 litres per 100km,
the Logan 1.5 dCi is one of the most economical cars on the market and also comes with
power steering as standard.
Starting at 9,840 (including taxes) in the Ambiance version, the Logan 1.5 dCi offers the
best value for money in the market, backed by a three-year or 100,000-kilometre
warranty.

With the 1.5 dCi engine a product of the Renault groups powertrain range Logan offers
driving pleasure combined with fuel consumption (4.7l per 100km) and emission levels
(125g/km of CO2) that make it highly competitive among diesel cars currently on the market.
The second-generation common rail injection system developed for the 1.5 dCi is characterized
by the supply of precisely the required quantity of pressurized fuel in a series of injections,
improving the efficiency of combustion and saving fuel. The system also features dedicated
injector calibration, enabling the injection timing and flow to be controlled for each injector
individually.

This injection system permits better control of the quality of combustion and, in particular, of preinjection. Thanks to the Accelerometer Pilot Control (APC) function, the pre-injection flow is
controlled over the entire life of the engine, improving its performance and sound level, and
helping directly to reduce pollutant emissions. The 70hp (50kW) version is also equipped with
an air-to-air intercooler and a new engine management system, affording very high efficiency
while complying with the new Euro 4 standard.

A compact unit, the K9K engine is

also characterized by its modest
weight (127kg in service-ready
condition). Supercharged by a
