Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC)
is one of Europes leading medium
speed diesel engine manufacturers.
The company has almost a century of
experience in reliable and powerful
engine types.
Originally, the first version of the
DZC type was developed in the eighties and has steadily been upgraded
through the years. Today, this type
became the standard choice for demanding propulsion, traction and generating systems.
THE MOST RELIABLE CHOICE FOR
ENGINES UP TO 1900 kW
The unique DZC- concept is known
for its high reliability and efficient fuel
consumption. Based on experience, a
judicious choice of piston, piston rings
and cylinder liner, achieved good
running characteristic at low rates of
wear, a very low lubricating oil consumption and a long working life.
The DZC is suitable to run on heavy
fuel oil up to 380 cSt, vegetable oils
(PVO), animal greases, etc. In the dual
fuel version, it is possible to burn natural
gas, bio gas, propane, butane, etc.
1.Turbo compressor KBB
The turbo compressor exists of an axial turbine and
a radial compressor. All the
energy recovered from the
exhaust gases is utilized to
provide the energy necessary. The air filter is mounted directly to the turbo
charger.
2.Security and controls
The engine is equipped
with several control and
safety devices for continuous monitoring of the vital operating parameters
like temperatures, pressures, speed, etc. The control and security system
is built to the rules of the
international classification
societies.

3.Speed governor
Inlet and outlet pipes
Both pipes are located on
the back side of the engine. This provides an easy
access to the injection
pumps.
Governing the speed is
controlling the amount of
injected fuel. This is done
by a rotation of the plunger
liner by means of a rack,
which is set by a linkage
connected to the speed
governor.
Each cylinder has its own
individual injection pump
and special shielded injection pipes. The pumps are
driven from the camshaft
by means of an intermediate tappet and a well-sized
tappet-roller. The very short
injection and combustion
period together with the
low engine speed results in
a low fuel consumption.

5.Camshaft
The camshaft is composed of individual mono bloc stubs forged as
one part (for each cylinder) and
induction hardened on the cams
and bearing surface.
6.Connecting rod
The connecting rods are forged
from high quality steel (42CrMo)
and 100% controlled by magnaflux. The large end is horizontally
split in order to limit deformations
and disassembling is possible
through the liners
7.Cylinderhead
The double-decked, special alloyed (cast iron) cylinder head is
foreseen with two inlet and two
o u t l e t
valves. This
concept is
designed
for
precise and
continuous duty.
8.Cylinder liner
The cylinder liner is made from a
wear resistant centrifugal cast
iron, slightly alloyed
with
chromium
and is plateauhoned in three
phases. The liners
are equipped with
an incorporated
fire ring (anti-bore
polishing ring).

10.Crankshaft
The forged crankshaft of chromium-molybdenum steel, with induction hardened running surfaces, is conform all classification societies. This piece is completely balanced by counterweights
(4 for the 6DZC, 8 for the 8DZC). It is possible to connect a secondary drive (up to 1800 HP) to the
crankshaft at the front-end side of the engine.

The trunk piston is oil cooled
(shaker effect)
and made in
one piece of
nodular
cast
iron. The incorporated combustion room
prevents
hot
spots and causes an ideal combustion. Each piston has a set of
four chromate piston rings: one
top ring, two compression rings
and one oil scraper ring. A low
piston speed guarantees a low
maintenance cost and a low oil
consumption.
11.Flywheel & Flexible coupling
All flywheels are made of cast iron GG25. The
maximum circumferential speed is only 50 m/
sec for a diameter of 950 mm. The low stiffness
of the coupling at idling speed prevents gear
hammering and results in a stable behavior of
the governor.
12.Starting arrangement
The standard starting system is with compressed air, acting directly on the cylinders.
An air bottle of 125l for a 6DZC and 200l for an
8DZC is advised (for approx. six cold starts). On
special demand, the engine can be started
with an electric or pneumatic starter motor
acting on a starter gear mounted against the
flywheel.
