DOWNTOWN FARMERS MARKET RULES


Our goal is to ensure the market is attractive, safe and appealing to customers. We want
them to enjoy their market experience and to return. Each vendor has a role to play in
attaining that goal. Please respect and adhere to the rules.

All vendors must be set up by 8 AM (No vendor is admitted after 7:45 AM). Unload your
vehicle, remove the vehicle to vendor parking across the street and come back to set up.
Market closure is 1:30 pm all vendors must have cleaned up their spaces and vacated by 2:00
PM.
No vehicles will be permitted inside the footprint of the market. Pack up while waiting for
customers to clear. Do not bring your vehicle to the market entrance until you are
COMPLETELY packed up.
All products sold must meet the requirements of local and state agencies and, if sold by weight,
with scales approved by the Department of Agriculture and the Bureau of Weights and
Measures.
Additional products or substitutions may not be offered for sale without prior written approval of
the Journal Plaza Group Farmers Market managers.
Vendors should not smoke in their selling areas during market hours. Please provide ashtrays
if you have customers who smoke. No alcohol consumption is allowed in the market.
No shouting or hawking of products.
Be courteous and considerate of other vendors at all times; any verbal or physical abuse by a
vendor to another vendor, the Market Manager or member of the public is cause for immediate
expulsion from the market by the Market Manager.
After unloading, and before setting up, vehicles should be moved to an appropriate parking
spot.
Vendors may use the restroom at the Journal Plaza rear of the building.
All vendors are responsible for removing their trash and providing their own trash containers.
No dumpsters will be provided for vendors trash.
Trash cans are provided for general public use.
Vendors areas should be neat, attractive, appealing and in good sanitary condition for
customers. Vendors must clean up their areas, leaving them in good sanitary condition, before
departing. Tents or umbrellas are recommended for shade. All vendors should have covered
tables to display items they are selling. Whenever possible, use tablecloth covers that reach to
the ground to provide cover for supplies. Use pre-packaged hand wipes for cleansing hands
during market hours.
Vendors are encouraged to erect signs on their stalls. Information should include the business
name, proprietors name and the number of years in the market. Signs should be attached to
tents or stand no more than 8 feet above the ground. Signage will be subject to approval of the
Journal Plaza Group Farmers Market manager.
Vendors must comply with requests from the Market Manager during market hours.
Non-payment of rental fees will result in immediate expulsion from the market.
Pedestrian crossways and sidewalks are to remain clear at all time.
All vendors need to stay behind the designated boundary lines, curbs, etc. of their area.
Vendors radios must only be heard in vendors booth.
Flyers that vendors would like to hand out during market may be subject to approved by the
Journal Plaza Group Managers.

Bring a check payable to Journal Plaza Group, LLC for rent on the first Saturday of
each month. Checks or CASH. Pre-payment can be made at the Office of The Cottage
Company at 241 North Main Ave, Lake Placid, FL 33852
Vendor is responsible for bank charges incurred if their check does not clear the bank.
Vendor may be required to pay with a money order or cash if this becomes a recurring
problem.
