This summary provides the key points from the pastor's message: The pastor discusses what it means to be a godly man based on scripture passages. He encourages men to have courage and strength in their faith and to stand up for their beliefs, even if it is difficult. Baptism is presented as an important act of faith that requires swallowing one's pride. The pastor uses examples like Roger Clemens to illustrate being tenacious in serving God. Dr.

Hayes Wicker, Senior Pastor

RisenAnd Rocking Worlds
We have just held our second Ultimate Man Day. The
book, Real Men Dont Eat Quiche, was published some
years ago with tongue firmly planted in the cheek. It
seems that real men also dont call for a fair catch, buy
flight insurance, go to Broadway plays, cry at movies, play
Frisbee, or wear pink! Paul defined what it means to be
a real man or woman of God in 1 Corinthians 16:13: Be
watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
All Christians should man up by courageously being
firm in the faith once and for all delivered to the saints, as Jude wrote. We
should not wimp out or waiver, but watch. We should take a stand even if it is
costly, because the eyes of the Lord can run to and fro throughout the whole
earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him (2
Chronicles 16:9). Guys, the manliest thing that you can do is to stand up and
speak out for the Savior.
As a young man, that commitment for me resulted in believers baptism in water
as I came to Christ some years after I had been dunked as a young child. I
swallowed my pride. Though friends and my parents never fully understood, to
man up I had to get down. Actually, this entailed joining a different church from
my family. This weekend would be a great time for you to go down and then
up in the waters of believers baptism in the Gulf at our beach worship service.
Paul also said that we should act like men as a person of maturity and not be
children in our thinking (1 Corinthians 14:20). In other words, grow up (2 Peter
3:18). When Jesus called His disciples, follow Me, the verb implied continuous
action which means, follow Me and keep on following Me (Luke 5:20; Matthew
4:18-22). Maxed out men and women never settle for just the minimum. As
Vance Havner said, Most Christians are living so abnormally, that if they lived
normally, it would seem abnormal.
Many remember the Yankees pitcher, Roger Clemens. In front of 65,000
people in Pro Player Park in the 2003 World Series in Miami, he pitched what
most thought would be his final game. Even as a 41-year old, he was throwing
fastballs up to 96 miles an hour. As he walked off the mound in the seventh
inning, even the opposing players tipped their hats to him, both on the field and
in the dugout. The Marlins manager did a slight bow. You dont have to be John
Wayne, the Marlboro Man or Clemens to be tenacious in serving the Lord until
He calls you home. Be strong (1 Corinthians 16:13). This word means be
strengthened by the Lords power and not your effort. He will strengthen and
provide as you give financially to share His love with the nations through the
Kingdom Missions Offering. We still need your help to meet our goal.

*There is a guest reception in the Commons following the Saturday night and
