Out of 134 large and medium industries, 90 units are working and providing
employment for 7177 people with an investment of Rs 288320 lacs. The
identified potential sectors in the district are Chemical cotton textile, ginning
industry, engineering goods, electrical industries Food, pharmaceutical and
Plastic, wood and Hosiery industry. The details of large & medium industries
are given in Table 2.1.

MACRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM SCALE INDUSTRY EVELOPMENT

Gandhinagar Dist. has 8051 SSI units established in the district with an
investment of Rs 52765.66 lacs in plant and machinery and providing
employment for 36688 people.
Kalol Taluka has the highest number of small-scale industries and the trend is
continuing since last few years. This trend is due to Kalols central location in
the district of Gandhinagar and it is well connected by road and rail. The
details of year wise Macro, SSI and Medium scale units are given in Table 2.2.
The distribution of SSI units by industry type is given in Table 2.3.

Availability of Student
There 3559 students appeared for the 12th std science stream and 8555 students
appeared for the 12th std general stream examinations. Out of these, 79.01%
and 86.31 % students respectively passed in the 12th examinations.

4.0 Chhatral Profile

Present Status of ITIs
There are 2240 seats available in ITI Gandhinagar district. There is only one
ITI in Kalol. There is no ITI in Chhatral. The courses offered by the ITI
Gandhinagar district are given in Table 4.1.

Industrial Scenario of Chhatral and Surrounding Areas

There are around 40 large and medium scale units in and around Chhatral
GIDC estate. In Chhatral GIDC estate, there are more than 350 SSI units of
Engineering, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Plastic, Lamination, Spices and
Textile in working condition.

In the nearest Kalol GIDC estate, there are around 150 SSI units of
Engineering, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Plastic, Rubber, Food, Electrical,
Lamination and Textile working.
Ravi Industrial estate is near to GIDC estate Chhatral. At present, there are
around 10 units in the estate.
In Gandhinagar district there are 7 clusters, out of this, 3 clusters viz., Cotton
Textile, Plastic and Engineering are in Kalol Taluka.

Other Infrastructures Availability

Chhatral is well connected with road. Kalol junction is the nearest railway
station which is around 12 KM away from Chhatral. Kalol is a prominent
railway junction of Ahmedabad-Delhi railway line. It is also connected by
road to Ahmedabad-Delhi Highway. All other infrastructure facilities like
transportation and communication is available there.

Need of ITI Extension Centres

As discussed with ITI principal, Supervisor and representative of industrial
Association there is a need for short-term courses in Chhatral. It has been
learnt that there is a need for industry-specific manpower training in the
centers like Chhatral due to concentration of cotton textile, Engineering,
Chemical and Spices, Plastic, Pharma and Lamination industry.
