TOLERANCES ON THICKNESS AND MASS
A] THICKNESS
1) Welded Tubes :
ERW PIPES
10 %
B] MASS
1) The tolerance on mas per
cart load of 10 tonnes or
above
7.5 %
theretical mass of tubes
B] OVALITY
1) Ovality shall not exceed 1 percent of the specified outside
diameter for pipes having diameter to thickness ratio
not exceeding 100.
TEST ON TUBES :
STRAIGHTNESS :
Finished pipe shall not deviate from straightness by more
than 0.2 Percent of the total length .
FLATTENING TEST :
1] The test shall be made on a ring sample not less than 40 mm in length.
2] No crack /fracture in the weld to be observed until the distance between the
plates is less than 75 % outside diameter of the pipe.
3] No crack /fracture in the metal to be observed until the distance between the
plates is less than 60 % outside diameter of the pipe.
HYDROSTATIC TEST :
The hydraulic test pressure shall be the pressure calculated as per
the following formula.
2ST
P=
D
The hydraulic test pressure shall be applied for 5 Second.
and shall not show any leakage in the pipe.
