completespecimensweredescribed.Deinocheiruswasthe
largestornithomimosaur(ostrichdinosaur),at11m(36ft)
long,andweighed6.36t(14,000lb),althoughithadmany
hollowbones.Thearmswereamongthelargestofany
bipedaldinosaursat2.4m(7.9ft)long,withlarge,blunt
clawsonitsthreefingeredhands.Thelegswererelatively
short,andborebluntclaws.Itsvertebraehadtallspinesthat
formedasailalongitsback.Theskullwas1.024m(3.36ft)
long,withawidebillandadeeplowerjaw.Deinocheirusis
thoughttohavebeenomnivorousitsskullshapeindicatesa
dietofplants,andfishscaleswerefoundwithonespecimen.
Itprobablyusedgastrolithstogrindfood.Thelargeclaws
mayhavebeenusedfordiggingandgatheringplants.Bite
