central America. It is
East of Guatemala,
South of Mexico, and
North of Honduras.

Apartment living is very
uncommon.
Most houses are wooden
or concrete/ adobe, with a
tin roof. (Some are like
homes on the East coast of
America).
Geography of Southern, and Western
Belize
In the South, and West half of the
country there land rises, and there
are mountains.

There are many Cays (Keys) which


are an offshore island, or reef;
Some that are completely or
partially submerged.

The Belize river cuts through


central Belize.

The Wet season lasts from August


to January.
Geography of Northern Belize
In Northern it is mostly
Marshes, Swamps,
and lowlands.
It is also densely
forested.
The Dry
The Azul, and Hondo
season last rivers cut through
from February
Northern Belize
to July.
Industry, and Economy
The Economy has been steadily growing
ever since Belize became an independent
country.
Construction is a growing industry.
Street markets are very common.
Work is still hard to find for most citizens.
Belize History
Great Britain controlled Belize, and it was called
British Honduras until 1973, Britain started giving
the government control of the country in 1964.
Great Britain has remained heavily involved with
Belize, and British troops protected the border
until 1993.
Because of this Belize has been growing since
Britain left.
The People of Belize- (Greetings)
In Belize
greetings are simple
friendly.
It’s rude not to
acknowledge
someone who
greets you.
The People of Belize-
(education/Government)
Most schools are church- run,
and require a fee to enroll, and
Students are only required to
complete up to eighth grade.
Secondary schools are not
required, and space is limited.
The Government of Belize is Healthcare is available to all citizens
democratic, however there is through either a hospital or through
private doctors/ clinics, or Bush
some corruption.

Transportation
Most rural, and suburban areas are accessed by the
increasing number of private cars.
The Hummingbird highway system connects many
large cities.

systems.
