Scared Child With Scoring 1

The SCARED is a screening tool for anxiety disorders in children and adolescents. It contains 41 statements about how the youth may feel. For each statement, the youth rates how true it has been for them in the past 3 months as "not true", "somewhat true", or "very true". Higher total scores indicate greater anxiety, with scores above 25 suggesting an anxiety disorder may be present. Elevated scores on certain items can indicate specific disorders such as separation anxiety, social anxiety, or panic disorder. The screening is intended to identify youth who would benefit from a full evaluation by a mental health professional.
