INTRODUCTION
Effort and hard work, the raw ingredients of success are what
propels us mid-river, crossing ashore, and reaching the satiating
glory of what might be called the fruit of success. I may have
used too much allusion in the prior statement, but truly, same
can be said for us, students who strived a month-long endeavor to
traverse the theoretical academe to the rigors of application and
practical
industries.
Supervised
Field
Experience/On-the-job
training (OJT) is a form of training taking place in a normal
working situation. On the job training are part of a college

lot from it. I guess it somehow boost my morale as well. I know

History
governing
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) is where
I was trained as an intern; was established in 1982 through
Executive Order No. 797. The goal of the agency's establishment
was to promote and monitor the overseas employment of Filipino
workers. The POEA was reorganized in 1987 through Executive Order
No. 247 in order to respond to changing markets and economic
conditions,
and
to
strengthen
components
that
would
protect
Filipino workers and the regulatory components of the overseas
employment program.
The Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995 instituted
State policies of overseas employment and established standards
for protection and promotion of welfare for migrant workers and
their families, and for overseas Filipinos in distress. The act
specifies,
"Migrant

in a state of which he or she is not a legal resident; to be used

Regarding
deployment of migrant workers, the act mandates, "The State shall
deploy overseas Filipino workers only in countries where the
rights of Filipino migrant workers are protected.

ON THE JOB TRAINING
Weekly Accomplishment Report
ACLC College
Computer Studies Department
Gapan City, Nueva Ecija
Narrative Experience
My objective was to be able to obtain an on-the-job-training
position where I can effectively apply my critical and analytical
skills from my academic training experience as a computer science
student. Working 380 hours in POEA it takes more than three
months. In my stay in the office I learned a lot of things, I
also realized the importance of having an on-the-job training to
the
graduating
students.
The
experience
and
learning
that
gained and obtain in the office. Being an ojt on ICT Department
that is absolutely related to my course, they enhance my skills
and
they
share
the
knowledge
that
they
know
without
any
hesitations.
I started my on-the -job training on June 29, 2016 at Philippine
Overseas Employment Administration. Mr George Parlan, the OIC
gave lecture on the rules and regulations, office protocols of
the said office.
As a trainee, it was also my tasks to consistently observe the
rules and regulations, office protocols and policies and learns
to work confidently, diligently and religiously.
ACLC College
Computer Studies Department
Gapan City, Nueva Ecija
Observation
My training at Philippine Overseas Employment Administration for
more than three months, I observed the daily activities and
practices that the workers inside the company performed, as well
as rules and regulation that all workers and employees must
comply with.
I observed that one of the workers of ICT Department stayed there
overnight monitoring the systems server and some are creating and
enhancing the system. Another thing that I observed was the rules
and regulation that the company initiated. Before entering the
company, regular baggage inspections were conducted. No smoking
within the building. The guard monitors the in and out record of
the workers and the OJTs.
Participation
I
participated
in
the
normal
operation
of
the
company
by
assisting the OFW's for their editing and re-printing request,
receiving phone calls regarding the Balik Manggagawa Online and
Seafarers log-in system. Deploying the OFW's in the system and
helping the technician if they have a servicing request from
other
department.

Interaction
and
any
computer
During the training at POEA, I learned to interact with other
people. We know that people have different characteristics and
attitudes;
however,
making
friends
with
the
other
co-workers
doesn't make difficult.
Even though I was only a trainee, they don't treat me like
others. And as a trainee, don't feel uncomfortable as I worked
with them. From the interaction I made with them, I learned to
work with patience. Although thoroughly working on something was
time consuming, the quality of the output is the most important.
Although I worked and interact with them for a short period of
time, I learned a lot to them; the skills and techniques that
they shared with me that cannot be find on the books.

Challenges
Challenge is test of one's abilities or resources in a demanding.
And challenges are always present.
During the on-the-job training, I met some challenges that push
me to work much better. First is when one of my co-workers
challenged me to be greedy in learning new things and skills.
That is also the time when our supervisor said that if the later
want high grade, I must work like a real employee. That was a big
challenge for me. I was only a trainee, so the supervisor must
supervise me and not to let me handle a situation than I didnt
know. And because of that, I learned to put a dedication to his
work.

Impact to Field of Specialization
The on-the-job experience I have made in the Philippines Overseas
Employment
Administration
served
as
motivation
for
me
to
improve myself and become better as a student of computer science
and an aspiring professional of the country in the future. The
impact that it has made in my field of specialization is that it
contributed to my realization in the significant role that the
computer
science
plays
in
the
national
development
and
the
improvement of the standards of living of the Filipinos. The
training inspired me to enhance and enriched my knowledge. Giving
me ideas of what is the experience of being an employee in the
future.

increase in my awareness, understanding and practical application

I would like also to recommend that all BSCS students that they
will undergo the On the Job Training to experience the real world

Accomplishment and Contribution
I started my first day of my on-the-job training at the office.
My first task receiving phone calls and assisting the ofw's for
their editing request. I learned a lot of things that I've never
experienced before especially on office protocols.
For the following weeks that I stayed in ICT Department of POEA,
I learned how to interact properly to the people personally or
through phone calls. Helping the technician of the department to
set-up,
install
and
update
the
new
computers
that
will
be
distributed to the branch of POEA. Servicing in other department
that encountered problems about their computers. I also tasked to
do

encoding.

supervisor if they need any help or assistance.

Competencies Gained
The training inside the company is learning experience each day.
I learned to appreciate the lessons studied in school. I was able
to realize the importance of theories and formulas that was
discussed
inside
the
classroom.
And
also
to
understand
that
everything that was thought inside the school can be a tool that
can be used in future career.
Philippine
Overseas
Employment
Working as a trainee at the
Administration,
learned
to
become a hard-working person. Time to complete the output product
is not important, but the quality. I also learned to follow the
instructions as what the superiors said and to accept opinion
that they suggested.
At the school, being late is better than
absent. But as what I learned at the office, being absent is
better than being late. Being absent can be a cause of emergency
situations
like
sickness,
unpredicted
travels
and
phenomena,
while, being late is a cause of misbehavior and unable to manage
the time. Lastly, I learned that on-the-job training is not just
only a subject to be passed or a requirement to be completed but
on-the-job
training
is
an
opportunity
to
show
what
skills,
talents and techniques that the student learned from the school
and
also
an
opportunity
to
experience
the
life
outside
the
campus; serving companies like a professional on the field of the
students specialization.
