FADE IN.

:
INT. LOCATION #1 - SCHOOL LIBRARY
Sitting at a table in the corner of the room is LIZ, a tall, 17 year old brown
aired girl. She wears a grey top and a grey skirt and sits at the desk leaning
ver a reading book. She looks quite bored, as she fetches her bookmark out and
laces in between the pages she is reading. She stops herself when she sees the
ookmark which she can clearly see is a photograph. She then quickly gets out a
otebook and starts writing.

LONG SHOT.
LIZ (V.O)
Today was one of those days where i was thinking about you, about how much I
miss you. I never really had the chance to show you how much I appreciated you
before I left.
CLOSE UP OF LIZ WRITING.
LIZ (V.O)
My best friend, my favourite person, the one who's always been there for me,
I'm writing this letter to say that I have some good news! I'm coming home!
MEDIUM SHOT.
LIZ (V.O)
(smiling)
It's been a few years since I saw you last and let me tell you I can't wait
to get away from this boarding school. Today I was reminiscing about the good ti
mes. Remember all the fun we used to have?
LIZ stops writing and lifts her head up as if thinking about memories before con
tinuing to write.
THE CAMERA PANS AS THE SCREEN FADES.:
INT. LOCATION #2 - BEDROOM
THE CAMERA IS POSITIONED SO THAT ONLY LIZ CAN BE SEEN ON THE ONE SIDE OF THE BED
.
The TV screen is flickering. LIZ is lying on the bed watching a film intently as
she eats popcorn.
LIZ (V.O)
You were the one who always sat and laughed with me while we watched all tho
se cheesy films.
THE CAMERA MOVES SO THAT IT IS NEXT TO LIZ ON THE BED.
LIZ turns to look at the camera.
LIZ (V.O)
Remember that one time? When I leant over and said those three little words
I knew you loved to hear?
THERE IS A CLOSE UP OF LIZ'S MOUTH.
LIZ
'I bought snacks.'

STRAIGHT CUT.:
THE CAMERA IS POSITIONED SO THAT ONLY LIZ CAN BE SEEN ON THE ONE SIDE OF THE BED
.
LIZ lying on the bed again and she is crying, holding a tub of ice cream and eat
ing off a spoon.
LIZ (V.O)
(sadly)
But you were also there for me when I was sad, crying in my bed over someone
who meant nothing compared to you. We watched that film remember? We ate your f
avourite ice cream together for comfort.
LIZ licks the spoon and scoops up another piece before offering it to the person
next to her.
STRAIGHT CUT.:
LIZ is seen jumping on the bed miming to a song with her hairbrush as a micropho
ne.
LIZ (V.O)
You were the one who cheered me up by helping me sing those dreadful pop son
gs in the charts dramatically without feeling embarrassed.
THE CAMERA TILTS UP AND DOWN REPEATEDLY AS IF JUMPING ON THE BED WITH HER.
LIZ (V.O)
We even took selfies and jumped on the bed to make me relive my childhood ag
ain.
LIZ fetches her phone out and takes a picture using the front facing camera on t
he mobile and pulls silly faces as there are camera click sound effects.
THE CAMERA PULLS OUT OF FOCUS.:
INT. LOCATION #3 - DINING ROOM
The scene changes to LIZ sitting in her dressing gown at the dining room table a
t home.
THE CAMERA IS AT A LONG SHOT AT THE OTHER END OF THE TABLE.
LIZ (V.O)
You sat with me at the table at home while I did my work. I'd look over at y
ou and you would look bored out of your mind waiting for me to finish.
LIZ is surrounded by sheets of paper and is finishing some homework.
LIZ (V.O)
So you'd make loads of noise and I'd shout at you and tell you to "stop dist
racting me!" (LIZ stops writing and covers here ears) But I only ended up in fit
s of laughter at you throwing paper at me.
A piece of paper rolls across the table as LIZ tries to keep a straight face but
eventually bursts out laughing.
The camera tilts up quickly and tilts back down to separate time frames.
LIZ is sitting at the dining table again. In front of her is her dinner that she
hasn't touched. LIZ is talking quite fast and using lots of hand gestures.

LIZ (V.O)
You were also there when my parents were out so I wasn't lonely and scared.
We'd eat and enjoy each others company. I'd tell you about my day and you'd sit
and think with me and I couldn't ask for moreSTUDENT FRIEND
Are you still writing a letter?
A SOUND BRIDGE FOLLOWED BY A CUT.:
LIZ is back in the library again and is interrupted by a friend standing watchin
g her.
INT. LOCATION #1 - SCHOOL LIBRARY
A MEDIUM SHOT OF LIZ.
LIZ
Sorry, what?
A MEDIUM SHOT OF THE STUDENT FRIEND.
STUDENT FRIEND
(sarcastically)
I said, are you writing a letter? It's 2016 no one does that anymore Liz.
A MEDIUM SHOT OF LIZ.
LIZ
Yes I am actually, and it would be nice if you could leave me to it.
A MEDIUM SHOT OF THE STUDENT FRIEND.
STUDENT FRIEND
(rolling her eyes)
Okay, if you say so.
STUDENT FRIEND leaves LIZ alone and she carries on writing. LIZ shakes her head.
LIZ (V.O)
(sighing)
Anyway, enough about the good times, because there have been times where we
haven't exactly been the best to each other, have we?
A WHITE FLASH APPEARS AND GRADUALLY DISAPPEARS.:
INT. LOCATION #2 - BEDROOM
LIZ walk up the stairs towards her room. She opens the door and her facial expre
ssion immediately drops. The camera pans to see the mess of clothes, makeup and
books all over the floor. LIZ turns to the camera and starts shouting.
LIZ (V.O)
I'd come home after a long day to find that you'd left my room in a state an
d wouldn't help me clean or even own up to it. You'd stand there and I'd shout a
t you and you'd hang your head low in shame.
LIZ storms out of the room.
The camera tilts down, replicating A 'hanging the head in shame'SHOT.
INT. LOCATION #3 - DINING ROOM
LIZ sits at the opposite end of the table and is mindlessly talking.

THE CAMERA PULLS OUT OF FOCUS.

LIZ (V.O)
You never listened to me when I used to speak to you, you'd zone out, and I'
d click my fingers in your face (she clicks her fingers and waves in front of th
e camera until it focuses) until you finally looked at me.
She rolls her eyes and sits back in her chair as she folds her arms and refuses
to talk. She picks up her pen and carries on her homework.
LIZ (V.O)
You'd make so much noise while I did my work that eventually I felt I couldn
't. Take it. Anymore.
LIZ puts her hands over her ears as the frame shakes and the sound of white nois
e gets louder.
THE SCREEN GOES BLACK AND IS FOLLOWED BY A FADE.:
INT. LOCATION #1 - SCHOOL LIBRARY
THERE IS A WIDE SHOT OF THE QUIET, CALM LIBRARY.
LIZ is sitting at the table staring at nothing in particular as her pen rolls on
to the floor. It makes her jump and she clears her throat as she bends down to p
ick it up. She slowly starts to write her letter again.
LIZ (V.O)
I shouted at you for careless, petty things. I felt guilty. After your accid
ent, I desperately wanted to be by your side and make things right again. (LIZ t
akes a deep breath).
A CROSS FADE SEPARATES THE SCENES.:
INT. LOCATION #2 - BEDROOM
THERE IS A LONG SHOT FROM THE BED.
LIZ peeps around the bedroom door and gives a sympathetic smile before walking i
nto the room and holding up the same ice cream tub used in the previous scenes.
LIZ (V.O)
I remember, walking into the room and you'd be in bed and I would bring you
your favourite ice cream so you'd feel better.
LIZ walks up to the bed.
THE CAMERA PANS TO FOLLOW HER.
She sits down and gives another sympathetic smile before leaning down and checki
ng the temperature of the anonymous character.
LIZ (V.O)
I did everything I could, I sat in bed with you and just talked with you to
try and make it all better. I could tell it helped.
STRAIGHT CUT.:
INT. LOCATION #1 - SCHOOL LIBRARY

MEDIUM SHOT.
LIZ is sat smiling, skimming over her letter again. She puts the letter down and
continues to write.
LIZ (V.O)
You're better now, and I just can't hide my excitement. I cant wait to take
more selfies with you and run around in the field like we used to.
CLOSE UP OF THE PEN MOVING.
LIZ (V.O)
Catching those sticks was always your favourite thing to do. I've bought you
some of those treats you liked the little bone shaped one you love so much.
LIZ looks down at her watch.
CLOSE UP OF THE WATCH - IT SHOWS HALF PAST 2.
LIZ pulls a worried face as she starts writing again but quicker.
OVER THE SHOULDER SHOT.
LIZ
I better finish
of the day. But I'm
I can't wait to see

(V.O)
this letter soon, It's nearly time to go to my final lesson
just writing this to give to you when I come home tomorrow.
you Fluffy.

LIZ starts packing her book away into her bag.

THERE IS A CLOSE UP ON THE LAST SENTENCE OF THE LETTER.
Suddenly, the letter is taken out of the shot and we see LIZ walk out of the lib
rary door.
FADE OUT.:
INT. LOCATION #4 - FRONT DOOR OF THE HOUSE
MEDIUM SHOT.
LIZ walks up to the door and places her keys into the slot. When she unlocks the
door, she walks into the house. A dog bark can be heard.
LIZ
Hey fluffy! How's my favourite girl?
