Alphabetic Filing
Using the cards on the next page, index (determine the caption by which the record
should be stored) and code (physically mark the record for filing by underlining) the
individual and company names on every card. Then, place them in alphabetic order,
according to the Rules for Alphabetic Filing. It might make it easier to actually use
scissors and cut out each block to put then in alphabetic order.
Record the order in the table below by typing in the number thats written on the top
right hand corner of the card in the appropriate space on the table below. The order
should reflect the first card in alphabetic order as being on the top of the pile of cards to
the last card in alphabetic order being on the bottom of the pile of cards.
