The definition of procedure text :


Procedure text is a kind of text that describe how to make something based on
steps.

The social function of procedure text :


a. To describe how to make something based on steps.
b. To describe how something is achieved or accomplished through a sequence of
actions or steps.
c. To instruct the ways of manuals.

The Generic Structure of procedure text :


1. Goal (title) : It explain what people want to make.
2. Material / Ingredients : Everything needed for achieving the goal (we can use or
not use it).
3. Steps : A series of sequence of actions oriented to achieving the goal.

The language features of procedure text :

Use simple present tense


Use command
(e.g.: cut the onion. . .)
Use imperative sentence
(e.g.: cut, dont mix)
Use adverb of manner
(e.g.: cut the mango carefully)
Use action verb
(e.g.: turn, put, mix)
Use temporal conjunction
(e.g.: first, second, then, next, finally, etc.)
