Standards
The teacher needs to know what standards of performance are to be expected and when pupils will be
held accountable for what is expected. The pupils should be informed about the standards of
performance. In the State of Texas, we call these TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills)
TEK #
Knowledge
Skill:
(4) The primary focal areas in Grade
2 are making comparisons within
the base-10 place value system,
solving problems with addition and
subtraction within 1,000, and
building foundations for
multiplication.
(A) recall basic facts to add and
subtract within 20 with automaticity;
2.4B
(B) add up to four two-digit numbers
and subtract two-digit numbers using
mental strategies and algorithms based
on knowledge of place value and
properties of operations;
2.4C
(C) solve one-step and multi-step word
problems involving addition and
subtraction within 1,000 using a variety
of strategies based on place value,
including algorithms;
2.4D
(D) generate and solve problem
situations for a given mathematical
number sentence involving addition and
subtraction of whole numbers within
1,000.
2.7C
(7) The student applies
mathematical process standards to
identify and apply number patterns
2.4A
(C) The students will represent and
solve addition and subtraction word
within properties of numbers and
operations in order to describe
relationships.

one of the terms in the problem.
Student Objective(s)
Students will understand math concept and prepare themselves for their Unit test.

Collaborative Learning
Size of groups:
How many students will be working together?
List the size of the groups and the number of
groups.
Example: 5 groups of 4
Example: 10 partner groups
Type of groups:
For this lesson, how do the groups work best?
Ex: Homogenous ability groups
Ex: Heterogenous ablity groups
Maybe you also want to use some class
vernacular: Elbow buddies Table
groups
No collaborative grouping is used in this lesson (put an X in the box if you are not
using groups)
Lesson Procedure:
Lesson Frame: Must be posted in the room, and read aloud before the lesson.
We will
We will review for our test.
I will
I will play a kahoot game to prepare for my test.
Anticipatory Set/Hook:
For the hook I will have whiteboards and markers on their desk, aswell as
their ipads on desk. I will also have their punch board out of place in front
of the room.I will explain that after the game the top 3 will be rewarded
with getting to pick a punch.

Question(s):
Blooms:
Who knows what tomorrow is?
Remember
Instructional Strategy/Modeling:
Time:
The teacher will reteach the concepts of addition and subtraction with
and without regrouping.
Question(s):

Blooms:
What is it when we move the one over to tens place?
Remember
Check for Understanding:
To check for understanding I will write them a problem to do on their
whiteboard when they are ready they will hold it up and if its right I will give
them a thumbs up.
Question(s):

Guided Practice:
Time:
The guided practice I will read the question of the review game aloud to help
conserve and/or reduce time.

Independent Practice:
Time:
However the independent practice will be the kahoot game problems.
After they will be guided through if they missed the problem.
Closure:

Time:
For the closure will be to reward the prize to the top three and clean up.

Assessment: (How will you know that your students learned what they are supposed to have
learned)
For the assesment I will know how they did and if they understood the
concepts by the way they played the Kahoot game.
Time and Materials Management Checklist:

How will you
Pre-group, pre-sort, and/or pre-cut
materials needed in your lesson?
I plan to
I will have I-pads already in thier groups
covered up by a blanket.
I will also have a sheet of paper set out on
their desk for when they sit down.
Cut down on the time it takes to
pass out materials?
The materials will already be grouped by
table and be ready to be grabbed when the
students are prepared and ready to listen to
thee detail.
Have students turn in work or have
work checked by teacher?
There is no work to be turned in for the
teacher to check. I may check to see if they
showed work for the problem, to be able to
observe who is actually prepared for the test.
Put students in groups/partners?
My students desk are already grouped into
tables, and we will use that grouping if needed,
besides thats my students are doing
independent work.
Have students move to stations, or
other parts of the room? (Moving to
and from the carpet counts!)
To have them move around I will do a clean up
by their table groups at the very end. I will
point to a table and say this table put your stuff
away, quickly and queitly and then pockets.
And so forth.
Call on students to answer
questions?
I will ask a question or two with students who
raise their hands to answer my question, during
the reviewing period part of the lesson plan.
