My Instrument Presentation

This document provides guidance for a student's instrument presentation, including discussing the history of their instrument, how it is made and played, specific techniques, and reviewing a piece written for the instrument. The student should discuss the composer and time period of the piece, why they like it, and find it interesting. The presentation should not simply copy text, use clear visual slides with limited writing, demonstrate techniques on the instrument or play audio clips, and showcase the student's presenting skills with confidence.

My Instrument Presentation

Things to include:

The history of the instrument

How it is made/played

Instrument-specific techniques (i.e. strumming, bends, finger-picking on

guitar; trills, tonguing on flute; riffing, scat on voice, etc.)

Review a piece written for your instrument find out about the composer and
time it was written, and review why you like it and find it interesting

Things to remember:
No copying and pasting straight from the internet
Don't just read from the screen - make your power-point slides visual and
clear with just a little bit of writing, and expand on your points when you are
talking
Make it exciting by demonstrating on your instrument or playing musical clips
We want to see your presenting skills as much as your knowledge of your
instrument - be confident
