Effectiveness of the Training in Enhancing the skills of Trainees
in Performing Groove welding on carbon steel plate
Executive summary
The objective of the training is to attain the required
competency upon the use of CBT approach.
Rationale
The purpose of this evaluation report is to determine if the
training activities need to be continued, redesigned or discontinued.
Objectives
To evaluate the competency of the trainees in performing
groove welding on carbon steel plate using smaw at the end of the
training

To determine if CBT approach effectively enhance the skills
of the trainees
Methodology
The method used to determine the effectiveness of the
training is the written test and performance test. Written test is
usually given to test the knowledge aspect of the competency. The
passing score for the written test is 80% of the total items. The
performance test is usually given to ensure that trainees learned the
concepts of the competency as they learned the skills.
Results and discussion
Based on the data that has been presented in tables and
graphs, there are significant differences between the pre-test and post
test scores. The scores in the post test increased compared to the
scores in the pre-test.
Therefore the trainees gained the required skills for them to
become competent in SMAW.
Recommendation
As a result of the conclusions derived from the evaluation, it
is recommended that continuous implementation of the CBT
approach will enhance the skills of the trainees.
