ADMISSION INTO POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMME MASTER OF PUBLIC


HEALTH BY DISTANCE LEARNING 2017/2018

Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Collaboration with the Open University
of Tanzania invites applications for admission into its Master of Public Health by Distance
Learning under the School of Public Health and Social Sciences for the 2017/2018 Academic
Year.

The programme aims to give opportunities to in-service personnel who cannot enroll for the
MPH Regular (full-time) or Executive (evening) programme.

The programme has the following characteristics:

(a) Lectures will be conducted through distance learning systems using well established e-
Learning management System of Open University of Tanzania (OUT) and the School of
Public Health and Social Sciences at MUHAS.
(b) Students may wish to meet the costs of the entire programme or of modules depending
on their choice because the cost of the entire MPH by distance Learning Programme is
subdivided into modules.
(c) Training does not interfere with the daily activities of the candidates and therefore their
employment is not in jeopardy.

Programme Duration: Four (4) semesters with maximum tenure of six semesters (Maximum
3years)

Mode of delivery: Distance Learning (Student Centred Learning)

Eligibility for Master of Public Health (MPH) Distance Learning program

i. A graduate from any recognized University in health related fields of study that include
but not limited to medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, radiology, laboratory sciences,
midwifery, sociology, anthropology, health statistics, health service administration,
environmental health sciences, demography, biology, food science, epidemiology and
health information sciences.

ii. Applicants must have scored at least a GPA of 2.7 in their undergraduate degrees

FEE STRUCTURE

Total fee for the program is Tsh 4,380,000/= payable to University.

Total fee for the program in USD is $2,520 payable to University (for foreign students)

The following documents MUST be included in the application package:

1. A duly filed Postgraduate Application Form F1


2. A completed Referee Form F2
3. Up-to-date detailed curriculum vitae.
4. Certified copies of ordinary level secondary education, advanced level secondary
education and undergraduate certificates and academic transcripts. MSc Super-
specialization applicants must also provide MMed certificates and academic transcripts.
5. Certified copy of internship certificate where relevant.
6. Certified copy of birth certificate.
7. A letter from the employer showing readiness to release you for studies.
8. A receipt for a nonrefundable application fee of Tshs 50,000/= for local students and
US$ 50 for foreign students paid to the University
