Adscititious
Ten years ago we destroyed Earth. We as humans slowly deteriorated our
planet day by day until finally, it became uninhabitable. Humans could not
breathe the air so everyone was left with two options; to stay and suffer the
consequences or to try and find a spot on one of the three ships that were set to
leave Earth. I was one of the lucky ones, I was able to make it on the second
ship that lifted off the planet. On the ship or Awal, as we called it, there were
around seven thousand people on board. Yet there is one more problem, Awal
was only supposed to be a temporary fix in case of an extreme emergency. But
we were trying to live there in denial of the fact that we only have five more
months of supplies. As the group tries to assimilate to the idea of the destruction
of our current home, we do what all of humanity does when they lose hope; we
pray. For whatever reason our prayers are answered, well sort of. An ancient
goddess who we call One created a new planet that She called A
dscititious;
which means additional or derived from something outside. The only problem is
that Adscititious is catastrophically apocalyptic. Nevertheless, everyone on Awal
stayed there, because, well there was a crisis and what other choice did we
really have. So when we reach the ground we separated into groups. Each little
pack consisted of around a hundred people. All of the different packs decided
to travel to different parts of Adscititious so we wouldn't be attracting as much
attention from the deadly looking creatures that resided here. My pack has
exactly eighty-seven people in it and we chose to settle in the southern most
hemisphere of the planet. We set up camp using tree bark, logs and leaves to
create tepee-like foundations then we rested. The following morning we created a
self-sustaining government and assigned each person a job. Myself and five
others were entrusted to be the suppliers of our dystopian city. My co-workers
names were Michael, Carter, Aubrey, Harper and Lily. Within minutes of learning
our jobs, we were sent to fulfill our assignments. Although we wanted to take our
job seriously we were still young, so we goofed around a little. Afterwards, we
created a strict mindset to accomplish our goals. Our group has to find some kind
of weapon like material or item. This was due to the fact that we are vulnerable to
the creatures lingering on the outskirts of our camp. And we need some type of
protection no matter how small. After approximately eight miles of walking
Michael finds what looks like traces of volcanic rock. Michael and Harper then try
to trace our way to the obsidian-like material. Shockingly we are able to find are
pieces of the rock. Consequently, we must use larger rocks to break away
decently sized fragments of the obsidian. Then each individual in our group takes
as much rock as we can carry back to camp. Once returned to our settlement we
show the makers what we have found. The makers are able to fashion the
obsidian into arrows and spears. While our group was gone it seems the rest of
our pack was able to fortify our tepees and some were even able to catch small
rodents for food. Sadly though some of the larger predators drew out and
mutilated some of our people. This event caused havoc and lowered our
numbers to eighty-one. After the attack, a majority of our people have been
restlessly building a wall around the camp for defense. After about two weeks the
camp is solid and safe. There are food and supplies, everything seems stable.
We were even able to have a medicine tent for anyone wounded. Our pack still
has to be cautious and take precautions to ensure the general welfare, but
overall the planet is no longer disastrous. That is of course just for now.
