Latest incarnation of the M-16 rifle, has flat-top reciever (removable carry handle), tactical rail
system fore-end, and single or fully automatic fire. The M-16A3 is the same basic model, though
without the tactical rail fore-end, and has single or three-round-burst fire.
M-4

This is the generic term for a variety of rifles, all of basic M-16 design with a collapsible stock, 16
inch barrel, and flat-top receiver. The SOCOM version is the M-4A4, with tactical rail system
fore-end, a full compliment of optics and modifications, and single or fully automatic fire. This
weapon jams and overheats with extended fire, and range is sacrificed with the shorter barrel.

This is Heckler and Kock's model of the M-4. It uses a proprietory gas piston system to increase
reliability and prevent over-heating. It was originally intended to be the new Objective
Individual Weapon System. This is the weapon of choice of U.S. Special Warfare
operatives. It has a 16 inch barrel with tactical rail system and collapsible "Crane" stock. There is
also a 7.62 NATO version, the M 417.
AK-47

This is the generic term for a family of rifles, all based off the Kalishnikov design. It can be had
with a variety of furniture, including plastic or wood, folding or fixed stock, scope mount or
tactical rails, and various barrel lenghts with muzzle brakes. The basic operating mechinism is the
same for all models, and is single or fully automatic fire. It is a very durable, if inaccurate,
weapon and available in one form or another around the world. The 5.45mm Sov. version is known as the
AK-74. The cut-down "mini" or subgun version is known as the Krinkov, or AKSU.
