Motivation Letter

Indonesia is one of the worlds greatest greenhouse emitters. It is mostly due to the deforestation,
forest fires, and environmental degradation. According to the reports of the Intergovernmental
Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), most climate scientists agree that the main cause of climate
change or global warming is the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations. The irony is that
Indonesia with its geography, topography, population, and development is one of the most
vulnerable countries to the impact of climate change. Those conditions provide a strong motivation
for me to take a little action to keep our environment healthy.

I have taken some little environmental actions with my organization such as planting in the
mountain, planting mangrove in the beach, involving in Indonesia Bebas Sampah 2020
Campaign and Menanam Kemerdekaan event by distributing seeds for free, making Gebrak
(Gerakan Bersih Kampung)/ Clean Village Movement, and involving in Siaga Karhutla which
organized by Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa Seluruh Indonesia. The more I get involved in those
kinds of actions, the more I realize how important our environment is. And I think protecting our
environment is a must, because by letting our environment get degraded, it means we are stealing
the nature from our next generation.

Although I have ever taken an action pertaining to the environment, my knowledge about
environmental issues is still limited. I want to learn more about this and when I know Youth
Leadership Camp for Climate Change 2017, I think it will be a great opportunity for me to improve
my knowledge about climate change. I hope by joining this program I can get a great experience,
find people who concern to this issue, make a movement pertaining to climate change, spread
climate change issue, and attract more people especially young people to concern to this issue.

Thats it what I can express. Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to joining
Youth Leadership Camp for Climate Change 2017.
