Procedure
Introduction (5 min)
Hook: Today is all about getting to know each other. Drama is about working together and
building strong relationships with your fellow classmates. This is a safe space we are in so
please give it your all.
Assessment of Prior Knowledge: We are going to be playing a variety of games today, if
youve played any of these games before juts raise your hand when Im explaining them.
Body (25 min)
Activity 1:
Name Game
The students will stand in a circle and we will go around 3 times saying our names. Then we
will go around again, this time adding an action to our name. One person will start, say their
name and do their action. The next person will say the first persons name and action, then say
their own name and do an action. The third person will repeat the names and actions of the
first two people and ad their own, etc. Continue until we have gone around the whole circle.

Activity 2:
Tongue Twisters/Enunciation
Exercises include: Sit in Solemn Silence She Sells Sea Shells Woodchuck Unique New
York Red Leather, Yellow Leather Irish wristwatch

Activity 3:
Atom
The students will walk around the space not touching each other. I will call out Atom and a
number. Students will get into those number of groups. This is an elimination based game,
and if the student does not find a group, they will come be my eyes. To make things more
interesting, I will add instructions on how to walk: fast, slow, supermodel, astronaut, etc.

Activity 4:
Concentration
We will sit in a circle and play the concentration game (this is a game, of concentration, no
repeats, no hesitation). We will use several different categories. This will not be an
elimination game.

Activity 5:
Knights, Damsels, Horses
I will have the students walk around in the space, they will walk around in different ways and
when I call out one of the actions they will need to get into partners to complete that action.
i.e. Knights, one student kneels on the ground with one knee up, second student sits on the
raised knee.

Closure (5 min)
Assessment of Learning: We will be doing these types of games over this course of this week,
if you have any games youve played before you can suggest them for next class. Did anyone
have a favorite game from today?
