Russell, Tim Palmer and Nick Halkes, and owned by Russell and Beggars Group.
The label is based in London, UK and New York, USA.
Even though the label has only produced an average of six albums a year they
have worked with; Adele, Beck, Dizzee Rascal, Electric Six, FKA twigs,
M.I.A., Gil Scott-Heron, Gotan Project, The Horrors, Jai Paul, The
Prodigy, Peaches, Radiohead, Sampha, SBTRKT, Sigur Rs, Tyler, the
Creator, Vampire Weekend, The White Stripes and The xx.
The label releases albums worldwide and operates across a range of genres. XL
Recordings work with mainstream and niche artists. Well known artists would be
people like Adele and Dizzee Rascal ect.
Artists vary when they are on the radio, it depends on the popularity of the song
and if it has succeeded to get on the charts. Adeles songs have been a hit and
managed 2 songs to reach the UKs top charts at no.1.

This is the official

records of her success at
the end of 2016.

Adele has been a big hit for the company but so has a lot of their other artists.
Radio stations that play the companies artists music, tends to be mostly top
charts radios. This can also range to others, but mainly if an artist has made a
single or album that has been successful and popular it will be played so they get
more hits and will become even more successful. This is the same for TV music
stations, they mostly play the top charts but also they create playlists for viewers
of less popular music so that the artist can get discovered to start off with. TV
stations like 4music will do playlists like this and sometimes they make ones of
past bands and artists so they music keeps going. For example, Radiohead were
a massive worldwide hit and their music is still played as it is classic and people
love it.
The XL Recordings stream music on their website and post their music so people
know that their artist who made the music.
XL Recordings created an album/playlist called, Pay Close Attention. It is a
compilation album documenting the first 25 years of British Independent record
label XL Recordings. Pay Close Attention is available as a 4x Vinyl Boxset,
Double CD, or Download.
Whether or not if the individual artist had CDs or vinyl alongside popular
download is different to the artist, its not the same for everyone else in the
company. For example, Adele only releases her phisicall CDs and vinyls before
she releases it out for download. The singer-songwriter has managed to get up
to 623,000 combined chart sales of physical albums, digital downloads and
streaming counts this year alone, according to the Official Charts Company.
