Introduction ': Power Barge 115 MW

The document describes a 115 MW floating power plant barge. The barge is fitted with 15 main diesel engines that are 9.6 MW each, with 2 serving as reserves. The barge design includes a tank farm, cooling system, air starting, and auxiliary equipment, as well as mooring capabilities. Key benefits of the power barge include providing power where needed, supporting rapid infrastructure development in remote regions, reduced reliance on local capabilities, taking advantage of shipbuilding financing incentives, and being unaffected by landslides or earthquakes.

POWER BARGE 115 MW

INTRODUCTION `

The floating power plant can economically supply electricity to a

specific district or to a specific facility that temporarily uses energy. Existing
large bulk carriers, which are fitted with used reciprocating engines and new
state of the art, large bore dual fuel engines that run on heavy or natural gas
to generate electricity. (MAN. 2011)

Design Description

The power barge is rated 115 MW which is composed of 15 main diesel

engines, 9.6 MW each, of which 2 are reserves. The design of power barge is
composed of tank farm, cooling system, air starting, auxiliary equipment and
mooring.

Design Benefits

Simple and straight forward location of power station where power is

required;
Supports rapid infrastructure development in remote regions;
Reduced reliance on poor or non-existent local capabilities;
Floating power stations can advantage of financing incentives from
ship build regions;
Unaffected by landslides and earthquakes; and
The floating Diesel power station can be supplied with two cooling
alternatives: sea water cooling or roof mounted radiator equipment.
