To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to express my interest regarding any secondary mathematics teaching
position that may open for the 2017-2018 school year. The reputation of your
school district attracted me immensely; it is apparent to me that a hunger for
learning is a trait that the students and staff acquire. Your district encourages not
only academic success but also social development of all the individual students for
their next phase of life, which is exactly what I am looking for in an employer.
This opportunity would be an excellent fit for both my personality and skill set. As
reflected on my resume, I had the opportunity to work in the Grand Blanc School
District. During my time at Grand Blanc, I was entrusted to take over multiple
classes from a colleague in whom I have the utmost respect and gratitude for. As a
product of his guidance, I have been equipped with many tools for teaching that I
learned from working with him over the course of the year. This experience
blossomed into meaningful relationships with all of my students and I have a
genuine interest in helping them succeed as a person and an academic, just as I
would in your schools. I learned first-hand many challenges that teachers face, and
also how vital meaningful relationships with students and colleagues are to the
success of a classroom.
During my four years as an undergraduate, I was able to participate in the teacher
preparation program, accumulating 2-4 hours per week volunteering in a variety of
classrooms. These classrooms consisted of an after school tutoring experience at
Lansing Everett High School, an urban geometry classroom at Sexton High School,
and an urban 7th grade general mathematics classroom at Lansing Eastern Middle
School. During this current 2016-2017 school year, I am completing my internship
as a yearlong student teacher at Grand Blanc High School as a mathematics teacher
in the areas of trigonometry, calculus, and algebra. These past and current
experiences have provided me with first hand training which gives me confidence I
would be a valuable asset in your school district as a new teacher. Please refer to
the enclosed resume for a complete list of my qualifications and teaching
experiences.
As a recent graduate from the countrys top education program, I have relevant
views on complex instruction and can offer innovative ideas that are grounded in
critical thinking and cooperative learning. I look forward to an opportunity to meet
with you and discuss my qualifications further. I am available for an interview at any
time. You may contact me at the phone number or by email listed above. Thank you
very much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
