Act. 4

1. Morality and economics are related in that economic decisions should benefit many and less fortunate. The principle of economics should be sharing and giving to those in need over prioritizing material goods. 2. Work enhances human dignity by providing opportunities for self-growth, value, and respect through interactions and responsibilities. When the workplace also protects dignity, it gives people a greater sense of importance beyond being a replaceable object. 3. Prioritizing labor over capital preserves human identity and dignity. Putting profit over people can lead to abuse by viewing workers as means to an end rather than individuals. Labor should take priority to recognize people's roles exceed work.

1. Morality and economy is related in such that one must put into account or into thought a sense of
morality when dealing with economics and work. This includes that idea of making decisions and
doing acts that would be for the benefit of the many, or of the less fortunate. The principle of
economics must be that of the better good, and this promotes sharing and giving to those who are less
fortunate, as well as the separation of ones self from material goods.

2. Work enhances human dignity in such that it paves way for the opportunity to realize and grow self-
value and self-respect. With work, one is introduced in a setting that involves both interactions with
fellow peers and with tasks and responsibilities. Given that the work place and environment also aims
to preserve and protect human dignity, this gives human beings a better sense of self-value and respect
as their role in life, as well as in the society, is far more important than simply a replaceable object such
as a machine.

3. Prioritizing labor over capital promotes the preservation and protection of human identity and human
dignity. When capital out-prioritizes the actual work of labor, then profit and resources become the
main driving force of the society and economy. With this situation, achieving high numbers is the
ultimate goal and must be achieved no matter the means, giving the tendency to belittle and abuse the
human beings that serve as the labor force. Putting labor over capital preserves the idea that human
beings are not meant for work only, and that their responsibility and role in life exceeds beyond the
work place.

4. Work is indeed a responsibility and an obligation in life no matter ones social status. This is in light
with the relationship of rights and responsibilities. Along with the right to life and the different rights of
a human person comes the responsibility of work. Work gives one the opportunity to satisfy and
provide for the different (economic) needs, which is emphasized more when these needs are shared by
a larger group such as a family. One must not rely on the charity of others as a source for resources and
needs with the mentality that work is not an obligation for them since they are poor. Everyone shares
this responsibility, as how the responsibility of stewardship is shared by everyone, in order to live a
better life.
5. The dignity of work is redeemed by Christ in such that more value is put on the human being as
compared to material objects. Similar to the examples of labor versus capital, the conflict in the dignity
of work arises when capital, a material good, is perceived with more value and importance as compared
to labor, an act done by human beings. With the principle of Human Persons Stewardship, which gives
people superiority and dominion over temporal goods, the dignity of work is then preserved as well.
Human dignity becomes the main driving force or main principle when it comes to work place and
environments.

6. The paschal mystery of Jesus Christ involves the idea of dying and rising again, of death and new
life. The paschal mystery includes the passion, the journey, death and resurrection of our lord Jesus
Christ, and work gives us a sense of participation in the same process. With work one is able to realize
and experience the journey of life, with all the obstacles and opportunities that it provides to a person.
Moreover, as mentioned, work gives human beings a better sense of human dignity and self-value, and
by being part of a work place that promotes human dignity, one is able to live a life that is more
directed towards God and his plans, both in this life and the next. Thus, work gives people the chance
to experience their own paschal mystery in light with that of Jesus Christ, and gives people an
opportunity to share the same resurrection that He experienced. Work can also be a participation in the
paschal mystery by means of instilling the values and principles that one needs in order to share life
with Him in heaven. Similar to the story of the rich young man, with proper work and a solid
understanding of ones role in relation to temporal goods may lead one to a life closer to God.
