To whom it may concern,
Amy Wallo was a student intern at Charlesmont Elementary School for the fall 2016 semester.
She spent 14 weeks observing, assisting, and teaching the first grade curriculum in my classroom
of 23 students. Amy approached all aspects of her student teaching experience with keen
anticipation.
It was immediately evident that Amy had a love for the profession and a sincere interest as well
as a concern for the students. Amy was highly motivated to learn as much as she could and to
perform to the best of her abilities. She put in countless hours planning effective lessons and
monitoring student progress. Amy wrote detailed and well thought out plans with the childrens
needs in mind. She sought out suggestions as well as feedback on a daily basis and used this as a
true learning experience. Amy was a team player and collaborated with other teachers and staff
in the building.
Amy has numerous strengths and engaging/motivating students was one that stood out. She
created a chart for a student to earn rewards for completing her work. Amy was sure to pick
rewards that peeked this students interest. The student liked the extra attention and that was
motivation in itself. The student was able to take ownership of her work and was eager to earn
her reward. This student has learned the importance of completing her and no longer needs to
use the chart. Amy displayed this type of creativity in lesson planning and with inspiring
students. She learned that a good way to manage a classroom is to keep the children on-task
with appealing, developmentally appropriate activities and keeping the children in a routine. She
embraced the technology in our building and used ActivInspire to create flipcharts for every
lesson that she taught. Amy did an outstanding job recognizing when a student needed special
assistance or attention. She had an excellent rapport with the students and they respected her as a
teacher.
Amy displays the qualities that make a successful teacher. She is ambitious, dependable,
compassionate, dedicated, and has her students best interest at heart. I know with confidence
that Amy will do an outstanding job and she will be an asset to any school that she becomes a
part of. I highly recommend her for a teaching position.
Sincerely,
