- Vector files such as .ai, .eps, .pdf, and .svg contain images defined by geometric objects rather than a grid of pixels and can be scaled without loss of quality. They are best for logos, charts, and other graphics with hard edges. - Raster files such as .jpg, .gif, .png, and .tif contain images defined as a grid of pixels and are best for web display. They can lose quality when resized. - Images for print need to be 300 dpi while images for web only need 72 dpi as that is the maximum resolution of monitors. Send designers high quality vector files when possible.
