Nurse Recruiter

To Whom It May Concern,


This correspondence is intended to express my wholehearted interest in filling a
cardiac/acute care position at your esteemed hospital. By late July of this year, I will have
completed my undergraduate nursing program at the University of Arizona with a BSN degree,
and gained state RN licensure.
In February of this year, I completed a 180-hour preceptorship on the telemetry unit of St.
Josephs Hospital in Tucson, AZ (which is also a Tenet hospital), in which I became proficient in
simultaneous, near-independent management of up to five telemetry status patients, and received
very positive feedback from my preceptor, patients, and professor. However, as my rsum
indicates, this was the capstone of four years that I have spent heavily involved in medical care. I
have completed clinical rotations in five different hospitals, gained proficiency using Epic and
Cerner, and learned various care protocols. I have also been involved in non-denominational
health missions to South Africa, Honduras, and Guatemala, where I learned multi-cultural care
and worked with populations with HIV/AIDS, TB, and cholera. I have extensive experience with
geriatric populations, having been a licensed Caregiver at an assisted living facility. Finally, my
membership to Sigma Theta Tau, my 3.667 GPA, and my desire to work for the TMC all indicate
my commitment to ongoing education and success in the nursing field.

My best qualities are prioritization of safety and ability to interact positively with
coworkers and patients. During my preceptorship, I learned the necessity of arriving early before
the start of the shift in order to read through documentation on each patient, so as to familiarize
myself with the patients medical history and future plan of care. I practiced assessments and
triaging, as my preceptor called it, so as to determine acuities, priorities of care, and unfulfilled
needs. This included physical assessments, lab value and diagnostic test interpretations, and
talking with staff, families, and the patients themselves. I became proficient in the critical task of
information management. I learned early on that at any moment of the day, physicians, PCTs,
patients, and their families might ask any question regarding the patients care. With continual
development of my brain sheet, I became a reliable source of information and eventually was
able to become an integral part in care coordination throughout the members of the healthcare
team. I was able to build a positive rapport with the staff over my time on the unit.
