K to 12 Enhances Martial Law Education

The DepEd said that the K to 12 curriculum provides an in-depth discussion of Martial Law in the Philippines in the Social Studies curriculum for grades 5 and 6. The department aims to teach students about this important period of history and promote critical thinking. Some academics have criticized attempts to distort what happened under Ferdinand Marcos' dictatorship. Over 400 faculty at Ateneo de Manila University signed a statement against revising history and forgetting the human rights abuses of the Marcos regime. The K to 12 curriculum and teachers aim to impart the truth about this period in Philippines history.
