Brief Description of the Program:
Malinao 2 Community Garden
A community garden is a parcel of land on which a group of people garden with the
intention of providing food crops for the use of members. The plots will grow rotating seasonal
crops such as leaf plants and fruiting plants. It is hoped that the community garden will provide a
hub for social interaction while involving members in healthy exercise, social and cultural events
as well as knowledge of organic food production to its members.
Objectives of the Program:
The main objective is to help people of the community to improve their economic situa-
tion through agricultural, literacy and marketing efforts. This objective will be accomplished
through the process of teaching to garden in their immediate compound and teaching them to
harvest products in order to provide food for their families.
A Meeting Place:

friendships and social bonds which contribute to a sense of community
A Growing Place:

grown and harvested locally.

methods, water and harvesting.

and a sense of well being.
A Beautiful Place:

Strategies of the Program:
The troop shall employ the Principles of Community Organizing with the approval of the
barangay captain Teresita Cabanag. In this program for the purok we would apply the following
strategies
1. Listening
2. Relationship Building
3. Challenge
4. Action
5. Evaluation
6. Reflection
Community organizing is most effective in the project area for it is an approach where the people
residing in the community are supported in identifying problems and taking action to achieve
solutions. It is a means of achieving social change through collective action. The tactics and
strategies employed are similar to the processes of leadership including timing the issue,
deliberate planning, getting the attention of the populace, framing the issue in terms of the
desired solution, and shaping the terms of the decision-making process. Community organizing
is a key part of an overall strategy to make changes in a community that are widely felt, and that
reflect the wishes of the people.
Community resources and involvement of community members:
The people shall be involved in the process of engaging in dialogue and collaboration with
community members. The goal of the undertaking is the involvement to advocate and strengthen
early and meaningful community participation in the community garden.
