The cost is free.

Al-Anon/Al-Ateen

Anger Management Group

The Arc

This is a non profit agency that serves children and adults with disabilities in the Panhandle.
Services include respite care, and equipment library, summer camp, conferences and emergency
funds.

Care Divorce Group

They offer this group Tuesday nights at 7pm. This is for newly divorced or people who have
been divorced many years that are having difficulty. Call for details and start dates.

Caregiver Support Group Area Agency on Aging of the Panhandle

Monthly support groups for caregivers care for an elderly loved one. Meets the first Monday of
the month from 12pm - 1pm.

This is an hour long video that provides step by step guidelines for healing with the most
common situations parents encounter during their divorce.

Grandparents As Parents

Classes for grandparents who've had to assume the duties of parents.

Grandparents Support Group

The group meets first and third Mondays, noon in a Sunday classroom at First Christian Church.
Participants bring their own lunch (optional) and coffee and ice tea are provided. You may
contact the group leaders, Norman and Dolores Spencer, at 352-6928. Church address is 3001
Wolflin, west of Georgia. The classroom is on the east side of the church, Duniven Circle;
members' cars will be parked diagonally at the entrance used to enter the church.

This is a program for children from kindergarten through high school who have suffered the loss
of a significant loved one. The child must have an adult who will attend his/her sessions.

This class is offered at different times of the year. Call for next session. They are free and last 8
sessions. This group is designed for families that have family members and/or friends that have
mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bi-polar, obsessive compulsive disorder, and major
depression. The class provides support, education and coping skills.

Junior League and Poison Control

They present a program to 1st-3rd graders on home safety and poison prevention. They do it for
all grades at one time. It last for 45 minutess and includes puppet show and teacher material and
take home material for kids.

This is an outreach program for families of prisoners. It conducts free weekend retreats designed
to inform, encourage, and offer emotional support. For an application, write to the above address

Living Life 2 the Fullest

A program of the American Cancer Society for anyone grieving the death of a loved one

Besides basic needs like food, clothing and house wares, they have counseling: marrage,
spiritual, financial and employment. By appointment only. They also have a Single Mom's
Program, Sonshiners Program for Seniors.

STAR Program

This program provides services to youth in at-risk situations and their families. The purpose of
the program is to reduce family conflict and to prevent the problems of runaway, truancy and
delinquent behaviors.

StopBullying.gov Launches Spanish Website:


StopBullying.gov has launched a new Spanish website: http://espanol.stopbullying.gov/.
Like the English-language version, the new site provides teachers, parents and community
leaders with the resources they need to prevent bullying. We encourage you to explore the new
site for research and best practices on cyberbullying, prevention and response.
You will find a Spanish-language Bullying Prevention Training Module, in addition to the
resources listed below. They will help Latino stakeholders address bullying in their communities.
-Training Module with Speaker Notes a presentation with suggested talking points, including
the latest research to help participants create an action plan for a community event.
-Training Module PowerPoint a slide-by-slide presentation for use at a community event,
workshop or town hall meeting.
-Community Action Toolkit - a supplemental guide, including tip sheets, a template event
agenda, action planning matrix and feedback forms.
-Misdirections Packet a Tip Sheet and a Spanish transcript of the Misdirections video
featuring Dr. Catherine Bradshaw, a national expert in bullying prevention who discusses
approaches to avoid in bullying prevention and response

Suicide Prevention Resource Center Best Practices Registry

The purpose of the Best Practices Registry (BPR) is to identify, review, and disseminate
information about best practices that address specific objectives of the National Strategy for
Suicide Prevention. The BPR is a collaborative project of the Suicide Prevention Resource
Center (SPRC) and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). It is funded by
theSubstance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
