Perspective
Vocabulary
Optical Illusion art also known as Op Art is a style of visual art that uses optical illusions. Op art works
are abstract, with many better known pieces created in black and white. Typically, they give the viewer the
impression of movement, hidden images, flashing and vibrating patterns.
One Point Perspective- One point perspective is a drawing method that shows how things appear to get
smaller as they get further away, converging towards a single vanishing point on the horizon line. It is a
way of drawing objects upon a flat piece of paper (or other drawing surface) so that they look
three-dimensional and realistic.
Horizon Line- In 'real life', the horizon is where the land (or sea) and sky meet. In painting perspective, it's
the level your eyes are at, an imaginary line to which things recede.
Vanishing Point- A point where parallel lines appear to meet in the distance
Parallel Line-Two lines on a plane that never meet. They are always the same distance apart.
Perpendicular Lines- Two lines that meet at a right angle.
