Third Novel?
Numerous studies were done to determine what would really be considered as the
third novel of Jose Rizal. The counterpart of Makamisa is the manuscript entitled
Maligaya y Maria Sinagtala, more known as Tagalog Nobility; however, according to
the evidences gathered by Ocampo, the Makamisa is acknowledged as the third
novel of Rizal.
Makamisa is Rizal's third novel, and not, as previously thought, the unfiished work know as "Tagalog
Nobility."
Reasons why rizal wrote makamisa
• Naghihimutok si Rizal sa pagkakasulat niya ng El Filibusterismo.

Summary
The story began with the scene of Father Agathon preceding mass to the citizens of
Tulig. The characters of the novel are Mr. Segundo (Don Segundo), Lieutenant Tato
(Tenyente Tato), Marcela, Captain Tibo (Kapitan Tibo), Captain Lucas (Kapitan
Lucas), and Aunt Anday (Aleng Anday). The title Makamisa (After Mass) might
represent the whole novel or just the first chapter.
