Telecom Shelter FDN

The document provides calculations for the design of a modular telecom room foundation. It includes wind load calculations based on ASCE 7-05 standards and checks bearing pressure, overturning stability, and section modulus requirements. The foundation design was verified to safely support the expected wind and structural loads on the telecom shelter within code requirements.

Centres of the footing = 2.705 m
Length of the footing = 4.81 m
Breadth of the footing = 0.5m
Depth of the footing = 0.55 m
Self weight of footing = 31.75 kN
Area of the footing, A = ( x ) = 2.405 m2
Section modulus of footing along, Zz
= 0.5 x 4.81 ^2/6 = 1.93 m3
Section modulus of footing along, Zx
= 4.81 x 0.5 ^2/6 = 0.20 m3

Check for Bearing Pressure :

Total working load on each the pedestal = 113.26 kN
( 5000 + 25567.65 + 3409.02 ) x 10 /(1000 x 3)
Wind Force Calculation:
Wind force in the shelter along X axis = (0.8+0.5) x 100 x 3.21 x 2.98
= 12.19926 kN
Moment due to wind in shelter along x axis = 18.18 kN.m
Wind force in the shelter along Z axis = (0.8+0.5) x 100 x 5.31 x 2.98
= 20.18009 kN
Moment due to wind in shelter along z axis = 30.07 kN.m
Total load acting on the pedestal, P = 113.26+3.13
= 116.3856 kN
Base pressure in the footing = P/A + Mz / Zz
= (116.39/2.405)+(15.04/1.93)
= 56.19 kN/m2 < 150 kN/m2
= Safe
Check for Over Turning:

Moment due to wind force along x axis = 18.18 / 2

= 9.09 kN.m / pedestal
Moment due to wind force along z axis = 30.07 / 2
= 15.03 kN.m / pedestal

DESCRIPTION REFERENCE

Restoring Moment :
Load due to Telecom shelter = 113.2556 kN
Self weight of footing = 31.75 kN
Restoring moment along z axis = (113.26 + 31.75) x 4.81/2
= 348.7384 kN.m
Restoring moment along x axis = (113.26 + 31.75) x 0.5/2
= 36.25139 kN.m
