En 11SMn30

1) The document describes the chemical composition and mechanical features of a high machinability steel called 11SMn30 that is not heat treated. 2) It lists the carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur content ranges for the steel according to the EN 10277-3 standard. 3) The steel has good machinability and easy chip fragmentation when machined, but due to its sulfur and phosphorus contents, it is not generally recommended for welding.

PROPERTIES :

Machinability:

This steel grade is marked by a good machinability on machine tools and by an easy fragmentation
of chips.

Weldability:

Due to the high sulphur and phophorus content free-cutting steels not destined to heat treatment are
not generally recommended for welding.
