ODAC Championship Script (general for all team sports)

ODAC championship game procedures require both finalists to remain on the field after the post-game
celebration and to shake hands following the contest, as done during the regular season. Tournament directors
will remind each coach prior to the start of the championship contest of these requirements.
Please move things along so neither team remains on the field too long. While coaches are permitted
brief remarks to their teams immediately after the contest, photos and interactions with fans will only take place
following the championship trophy presentation. Fans are not permitted on the field during or immediately
after the contest. The following announcement shall be made throughout the contest as needed, especially
towards its conclusion:

Fans, please remain following the conclusion of todays game for the
championship trophy presentation and announcement of the ________(sport)________
All-ODAC Tournament team.

Following the conclusion of the celebration and the team handshake read:
Ladies and gentlemen, please direct your attention to the center of the field
where (tournament director/host AD/ODAC representative) will recognize the
(sport) All-ODAC Tournament team. All-tournament team members in attendance
should come forward and be recognized.

Read the names and schools of all-tournament team members who did not participate in the championship
game alphabetically by school, followed by all-tournament team members from the second-place team and
finally from those all-tournament selections from the winning team.

Lets have another round of applause for these fine student-athletes, your (year)
All-ODAC Tournament team.

Prior to the championship trophy presentation the announcer should recognize the second-place team:

First off, what a great championship and a great tournament! The Old Dominion
Athletic Conference congratulates (school) for a great season. The (nickname)
s record stands at ___________ following their __________ appearance in an ODAC
title game.

And now for the presentation of the (year) ODAC Championship Plaque. At this
time we ask (winning team)s captains* or other team representatives* to step
forward and receive the Championship Plaque from (tournament director/host
AD/ODAC representative). The (nickname) complete the conference season with
a (overall) record and receive the ODACs automatic bid into the NCAA Division III
playoffs. Here they are, your (year) ODAC Champions, the (name and nickname).

*Identify the team representatives prior to the game or following the end of the game from the coach.

Fans, the (host institution) and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference appreciate
your support of this years ODAC Tournament and of Division III athletics. Thanks
again and best wishes for a safe trip home.
