Reaching Forward to Gods Goal

Philippians 3:12 (KJV)Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect:
but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ
Jesus.

The Word Perfect is as the Bible uses it of men , dose not refer to sinless Perfection
the Word Perfect in Hebrew is Tamam Which means Completeness in all details or to
reach a goal or to achieve a purpose.

Three stages of Perfection is are revealed:

I. Positional Perfection, already possessed by every believer in Christ.
A. Hebrews 10:14 (KJV) For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are
sanctified.

II. Relative Perfection i.e Spiritual maturity especially in such aspect as

A. Perfecting in The will of God.

1. Philippians 3:15 (KJV) Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus
minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this
unto you.

2. Colossians 4:12 (KJV) Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth
you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect
and complete in all the will of God.
B. Perfecting in Love
1. 1 John 4:17 (KJV) Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness
in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
2. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear
hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
C. Perfecting in Holiness
1. 2 Corinthians 7:1 (KJV) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us
cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness
in the fear of God.
D. Perfecting in Patience
1. James 1:4 (KJV) But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect
and entire, wanting nothing.
2. Galatians 3:3 (KJV) Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now
made perfect by the flesh?
E. Perfecting in Ministery
1. Ephesians 4:12 (KJV) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the
ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

III. Ultimate Perfection

A. That is perfection in Soul, Spirit, and Body, which Paul denies he has attained in
Philippians 3:12 Not that I have already reached the goal or am already fully
mature, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken
hold of by Christ Jesus.
B. We will realise at the time of the resurrection of the body.
1. Philippians 3:11 (KJV)If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the
dead.

For Christians the moral perfection of God is always the absolute stranded of conduct.,
but Scripture recognise that Christians do not attain sinless perfection in this life.
A. 1 Peter 1:15 (KJV) But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all
manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

B. 1 John 1:8-10 (KJV) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the
truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our
sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not
sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
