Geographical Location
The parish is situated in North Sampaloc, one of the most thickly populated area of Manila. This is
also known as the University Belt: Sampaloc is under the 4th Congressional District of Manila with
Congresswoman Trisha Bonoan-David as Representative.
To the Northeast of the parish is Algeciras Street which is along the railway of the Philippine
National Railway (PNR);
To the Southeast is Espana Boulevard, down to M. Earnshaw Street which traverses A.H. Lacson
Street, then to S.H. Loyola Street;
To the South is Claro M. Recto Street;
To the Southwest is Quezon Boulevard and Andalucia Street;
To the Northwest is Laon-laan Street.
The Parish area was created out of several portions of the parishes of Holy Trinity (Balic-Balic), Our
Lady of Loreto (Bustillos), and Espiritu Santo (Blumentritt). The parish is under the Vicariate of Our Lady
of Loreto.

Kasalang Bayan Free community mass wedding during parish fiesta and the feast of St.
Joseph.
6. Anointing of the Sick
Anytime or may be arranged by appointment. Aside from administering this sacrament,
the parish priest, together with some Extrordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, visit
the old and the sick parishioners every second Friday of the month. There are almost 60
of them as of June 2009.

Catholic Womens League Santisimo Rosario Parish Unit
-Organized on Sept. 11, 1960 by Fr. Patricio Rodrogo, OP, the league has remained true to the CWL
Motto of Charity, Work and Loyalty and have rededicated themselves to: unite all Catholic women in a
deep commitment to uphold the faith and to promote the welfare of home and country; participate
with dedication in lay apostoloate; and be sincerely involved in Christian renewal of society.
Santisimo Rosario Charismatic Prayer Group
-With the pioneering of Bro. Francis Canillas and upon approval if then parish priest, Fr. Ramon Perez
O.P., the Santisimo Rosario Charismatic Prayer group was born on August 1981. The objectives of the
movement are the following: to make holy the people of Jesus-centered through the power of the Holy
Spirit; to lead the people to be parish-conscious; and to lead the parishioners to dedicate their time and
effort in serving the parish through bible reading and sharing of faith.
Santisimo Rosario Eucharistic Adorers
-Formerly called the Banal na pag-aaral Vigil Adorers, the group was renamed Santisimo Rosario
Eucharistic Adorers and was formarly accepted by then parish priest Fr. Butch Bombase, O.P. on
October 1989. It has since served as one of the Prayer Power Houses of the Parish
Heart of Jesus and Mary Santisimo Rosario (UST) Prayer Group
-Incorporated in to the parish in 1992, The HJM Santisimo Rosario (US) Prayer Group is part of the
Heart of Jesus and Mary Prayer Community (HJMPC), a marriage encounter community. Composed of
more than 250 committed couples and about 100 regular members, the HJMPC seeks to strengthen
family life through the Marriage Encounter weekend and other parallel acitivities such as the Family
Encounter (FE), Family Life Deepening Seminar (FLDS) and the Sons And Daughters Encounter (SADE). It
also seeks to strengthen the individual personal relationship with the lord through the renewal
programs such as Life in the Spirit Seminar (LSS) and the Growth in the Spirit Seminar (GSS).
Ladies of Charity
-The Association of the Ladies of Charity and Luisas was founded October 6, 1961 with Rev. Fr. Abelardo
Beltran OP as director succeeded by Rev. Fr. Catalino Elloso, OP and Rev. Mother Lourdes Lopez as
Directress. The main aim of the association is the sanctification of its members by means of prayer and
good work. Caritas urgent nos is their motto, hence their primary function is the visitation of the poor,
giving them material and spiritual help.
Legion of Mary
-Founded by Fr. Emiliano Serrano, OP in 1942, the Legion of Mary was organized to propagate the cause
of God and to help in the personal sanctification of its members. It aspires to be used by Our Lady of Her
motherly concern for mans salvation. With no discrimination as to age, color or social backgrounds with
one concurring movie: their salvation and that of others.
-The first praesidum (smallest unit of LM named after a title of Mary) organized in the parish is the
Praesidium Regina Sacratissimi Rosarii formed on July 5, 1942. It is one of the oldest Praesidium of the
legion of Mary in the Philippines. The Most Holy Rosary Curia was formed on July 19, 1961 and the
Rosarii Marialis Junior Curia was formed on March 11, 1962.
Mother Butlers Guild
-The Mother Butlers Guild is an organization named in honor of Marie Joseph Johanna Butler which was
introduced to the parish by Sis. Alejandra (Nene) Pascual. Its objectives and duties are centered on the
Holy Eucharist, like sewing and preparing altar linens and priests vestments, flower arrangements,
cleaning and decorating the altar not only on special occasions but throughout the year. Other activities
include assisting during baptism, helping in cleaning the church and sponsoring the Feast of the Sto.
Nino. Introduction of officers and members took place on April 15, 1972 officiated by Fr. Pedro
Escudero, O. P. Spiritual Director.
Associacion De Santo Entierro
-The ASSOCIACION DE SANTO ENTIERRO is a family of committed and dedicated Catholics whose thrust
is a devotion of services to the care and concern of the sick and to prepare the dying to a holy and happy
death.
Lectors and Commentators Group
-The lectors and Commentators Group believes that man, as an image of God, is endowed with talents
and powers. Among all these gifts, the greatest good that man can share with his fellowmen is the
proclamation and living up to the good news of Christ, whom we personally encounter and acknowledge
as the center of our lives.
-The task of the Lectors/Commentators Group, therefore, has been geared towards providing an
environment where the parishioners become aware and appreciative of the Words of God and,
consequently, seek their development as persons for God and for others.
Special Eucharistic Lay Ministers
-The Special Eucharistic Lay Ministers are a select group of people entrusted to perform special
functions for their community. As the Catholic Church, a community of faith and love, continues to
change under the vision and reforms of the II Vatican Council, the more we grow in appreciation and
greater utilization of several kinds of Ministries.
-The Eucharistic Ministers help priests and deacons in the distribution of Holy Communion during the
Holy Mass and in bringing the Sacred Host to the sick parishioners either in their homes or in the
hospital.
Santisimo Rosario Cooperative Credit Union
The Santisimo Rosario Cooperative Credit Union (SRCCU) was established by, and for the parishioners,
for their interest and to help each other solve their common problems. The members, thru their
systematic and regular savings of money no matter how small in the form of savings and fixed deposits,
can in turn borrow money from the credit union to buy food and clothing, for the rent of apartment, for
medicine and medical and dental services, for the tuition fees and school needs of their children, to start
a small business or some other needs.
