Jigsaw

The teacher had students break into self-selected groups from last week to discuss assigned articles. Each group member was then assigned a number and new groups were formed with one member from each original group who had read a different article. These new group members shared their article information so that knowledge was exchanged between the original groups. Finally, the class summarized as a whole at the end.

Have students break into the groups that were self-selected last week and discuss their

assigned article

Each group numbers off within the group Group A has participants 1-6, etc. Have
people combine into new groups based on their number (all of the 1s, 2s, 3s, etc).
Now each new group contains one member from each of the previous groups. They
are now the expert and share their article information with their small group. Have
students summarize as a class at the end.
