having a Bar Mitzvah"

Jewish holiday as it is a time of
celebration.
The significance
of a Bar/Bat
Mitzvah
When a child celebrates their Bar
or Bat Mitzvah it is understood to
be the stage when a Jewish child
must follow the Jewish obligations
as a follower of their religion.
Before a child has received their
Bar/ Bat Mitzvah, they are not
expected to follow all obligations
of the Jewish religion however
they should be well aware of them.
A child will become more and more
aware of the Jewish obligations
coming up to their Bar/Bat Mitzvah
The Bar Mitzvah
The Bar Mitzvah is celebrated by every 13 year old Jewish
boy.
When celebrating their Bar Mitzvah every boy will wear
his tallit which is a Jewish prayer robe worn by all Jewish
man in times of prayer. A Jewish boy is also taught how to
put on a tefillin which consists of two leather boxes with
verses from the bible worn on head and arm.
He will study hard for his Bar Mitzvah as every child is
expected to know their allocated piece extracted from the
torah; the Jewish sacred text.
The child's parents especially their father is involved in
their child's Bar Mitzvah.
The child will make his way up to the bimah; the place
where all readings are made in a synagogue. Their reading
will be practiced a lot as it is in hebrew.
When reading their text he will use a silver pointer for
concentration.
The Bat Mitzvah
The Bat Mitzvah is the celebration of a 13 year old girl.
The same as a Bar Mitzvah. A Jewish child becomes
responsible for their own actions rather than it being their
parents responsibilities.
A Jewish girl receiving their Bat Mitzvah will wear
something formal and fashionable and sometimes a girls
clothing can be similar to something worn to a prom.
A woman's obligations are not the same as a man's
obligations as a Bat Mitzvah is considered an opportunity to
become aware of the special roles of women in the Jewish
community.
